@LasseSaksa: The point here is that I think it's unlikely that this was an intentional attack on neutral shipping in the Danube anchorage.

Good analysis on the Rostov-na-Donu.

The question came so I'll give the answer here:

Ukraine has likely laid a considerable number of YaM mines in defensive minefields along the coast early in the war, originally intended to counter any Russian amphibious landings.

@Someoneyouprob3: Attached an answer to the original thread but yes, Ukraine likely laid defensive minefields along the coast early in the war.

Seama was at anchor at Danube anchorage when this occurred.

Drifting Soviet era YaM mines have been a problem since the early days of the war, but luckily very few merchant ships have been struck.

Both Russia and Ukraine had stocks of YaM's so attribution will be difficult.

Mines can be set a drift on purpose but that hasn't been observed in the Black Sea.

The sightings so far have likely been mines broken loose from their moorings by weather, due to being in poor condition when laid or a combination of the two.

RT @GuyPlopsky: A Su-34 crashed, reportedly in Voronezh Oblast. Photo shows Su-34 (B/N "05" Red / RF-95806) assigned to the 47th Bomber Aviation Regiment (BAP) based in Voronezh-Baltimor air base . This was one of the older Su-34s in service with the VKS.
