Air defense.

AD is one of CHODs focus areas, recommended strengthened firstly by increasing volume of current systems/NASAMS and then investing in long range systems.

Here's the graph on funding.

Total figures aren't that different from what the Defense Commission concluded with, but CHOD has a slower ramp-up.

This concludes a brief thread on CHODs recommendation.

Going forward, the issue now is to see of the politicians are able to rise up to the challenges of our time and actually provide funding.

I might come up with longer read(s) on these topics in a while.

In general, this is why one can't rely on GPS alone, but need complementary systems for navigation and terminal guidance.

This also has an impact on salvo size and the quantities of munitions required, especially so in large scale warfare.

A couple of interesting bits from the latest CDS Daily Brief.

The note on Russian placement of reserves is interesting.

Also worth having in mind that the current fighting is taking place well forward of the main Russian fortified lines.

@colone1flanders Ukraine doesn't have that many HIMARS or M270 tubes considering the scale of the fighting. These are also the primary means for hitting rear area targets.

The main effector remains conventional tube- and rocket artillery.
