@krakek1 I absolutely agree.

Also think both Russia and Norway owes those who have their daily work in the Barents Sea, and beyond in this instance, to keep the SAR cooperation going, despite the current tensions and international situation.

Land Forces

CHOD recommends setting up a new brigade on armoured wheeled vehicles and mainly reservist based, in southern Norway.

Finnmark Land Command to be strengthened by 1 rocket artillery bn, 1 tube artillery bn, 1 light inf bn (amphibious), ISTAR and engineers.

Air defense.

AD is one of CHODs focus areas, recommended strengthened firstly by increasing volume of current systems/NASAMS and then investing in long range systems.

A portion of new AD units to be based on reservists / mobilization units.

Another focus area, Long-range precision weapons.

Rocket artillery for the Army, the mentioned Bn in Finnmark.

ARMs for the F-35s to increase the ability to penetrate adversary air defences.

New surface fleet to be capable of delivering longe range firepower.

Here's the graph on funding.

Total figures aren't that different from what the Defense Commission concluded with, but CHOD has a slower ramp-up.

This concludes a brief thread on CHODs recommendation.

Going forward, the issue now is to see of the politicians are able to rise up to the challenges of our time and actually provide funding.

I might come up with longer read(s) on these topics in a while.

During the night, the water level in Kherson rose by 1,5 meters. Comparison of the same embankment in Kherson before the destruction of the dam(1), last evening(2) and this morning(3-video). In total, the water level in this place has risen by +5 meters. https://t.me/kherson_non_fake/7989 https://twitter.com/i/web/status/1666381056210092033

In general, this is why one can't rely on GPS alone, but need complementary systems for navigation and terminal guidance.

This also has an impact on salvo size and the quantities of munitions required, especially so in large scale warfare.

.@tomwithington on Russia's JDAM-jamming: "One senior EW expert told the author that, even with SASSM, the sheer brute force of a powerful jamming signal can prevent the JDAM’s GNSS receiver from obtaining the encrypted signal." https://t.co/phyi5Wsxfi

A couple of interesting bits from the latest CDS Daily Brief.

The note on Russian placement of reserves is interesting.

Also worth having in mind that the current fighting is taking place well forward of the main Russian fortified lines.
