In my pre-war article, I looked at Russia's military capabilities, doctrine, previous wars they fought, etc. and came to the conclusion that compellence was their most likely COA. It was obvious on Feb 24 that was wrong and Russia was actually pursuing regime change/occupation.

Russia's strategy *only* made sense if its forces faced minimal resistance. Its battalions drove directly to cities without support. Any accurate analysis of this war begins with the realization that Putin fully underestimated Ukrainian resistance and what goals were achievable.
