This is an important point. Melitopol is an even more critical rail hub now that Russia will likely have to rely on ferries to move equipment to Crimea. It possibly makes a Ukrainian offensive in Zaporizhzhia more likely (though I expect they've already been planning one).

@RikuPasanen It’s garbage. The Ukrainian Dnipro bridges are significantly more stronger. When I was talking with the bridge builder years ago he said the Crimean bridge structure and layout look very weak for a bridge. And basically said it would be easy to destroy that turned out to be true.

@RikuPasanen I am surprised by the amount of damage this explosion made, and the fact that the other side of the bridge completely collapsed into the water just shows us how weak this bridge was built to be.

Russia’s National Anti-Terrorism Committee says that a truck exploded on the bridge which led to damage. Presumably a truck bomb by Ukrainian SSO.

@globeearthshil No, this has been going on the whole war and there is no way for Russia to prove it, Ukraine gets intelligence for hundreds of HIMARS strikes and to kill Generals all the time. There are so many spies in Russia working against Russia even spies that are Putin’s closest allies. 🇺🇦

But you would expect to see more damage to the road if it was a large truck bomb. The breaks in the road look too clear. Not sure this is true. I'll wait for experts to chime in.
