I've heard of other Russian units in which 20% or more of soldiers, including officers, refused to deploy to Ukraine. Given Russia's manpower problems, the number of refuseniks is a not insignificant factor in the Russian military's struggles in Ukraine.

I don't think most of them refused to deploy because they are necessarily against the war, but because they realized it was going to be a disaster, especially when they were given a few hours' notice they were invading Ukraine. Another consequence of how Russia planned this war.

@Kingstyler88 @GeromanAT If USA thinks Ukraine is really needs the S variant then yes they will give it to them and it’s highly likely they got it. But we don’t know the amount, it could be a lot or could be a little. But if they got more of the standard variant they could target other Artillery systems.

@GeromanAT @Kingstyler88 That is what I would suspect because with the Kharkiv Counter offensive where Ukraine got Balakillya and Kupyansk. I think Ukraine would’ve need a lot more equipment to take over that much land that quickly and to defend against Russian offensives on villages on the entire front.

@mgerrydoyle Was that a common view? My take was that the Russian military started to fight according to its doctrine in the spring, but that heavy casualties in Feb-March meant it would struggle to take much territory. I think the failures of the first month dictated the rest of the war.
