MENAGESHA REHABILITATION CENTER HOSTED SCHOLARS FOR 6TH TIME

Menagesha Rehabilitation Center hosted scholars from the University of Gonder for the sixth time, sponsored by the Mastercard Foundation. Over 14 days, the participants engaged in learning and exploration, beginning with a warm welcome from our team, led by Executive Director Ato Fasil Ayele.

The scholars enjoyed an overview of Cheshire Ethiopia's impactful programs and a site visit that showcased our work. The event concluded with a heartfelt Thanksgiving program, where the scholars celebrated their achievements and recognized the exceptional service of our staff. In a memorable gesture, they planted trees to leave a lasting legacy.

The fourteen-day summer camp program concluded with the presentation of appreciation certificates, recognizing the unwavering support from our organization that contributed to the success of the program.

On Saturday June 21, 2025, Cheshire Dire Dawa, Organized a recreation, Leisure and sport event for students with disabilities(C/YwDs) as part of Child Empowerment and Enabling Environment project. The event took place at Papa Recreation Center. The Initiative was aimed to create opportunities for the students to participate in recreational and sport activity considering closure of school. Through this, we aimed to enhance their self-esteem and Confidence. A total of 40 CYwDs participated in the event & accessed various paid recreational services including foods (french fries, Pizza, cake) & drinks which is tailored to their needs. The joy and excitement were palpable, making the event not only colorful but also memorable for all attendees.We were honored that guests from stakeholders like BOFED & OPDs presented during the event and conveyed their sincere gratitude for our initiatives, recognizing the significant impact we are making in the community.

SLIP Project Empower 50 Persons with Disabilities in Debre Birhan
Fifty persons with disabilities in Debre Birhan have received 900,000 Birr in start-up capital after completing training in business skills and disability rights under the Sustainable Livelihood intervention Project (SLIP), implemented by Cheshire Ethiopia. The project is funded by Ethiopiaid.
During provision of the startup higher officials of Debre Birhan Town Women, Children & Social Affairs Office, these new entrepreneurs are turning knowledge into action—proving that when opportunity meets determination, inclusion wins.
Elevator for Accessibility at Head Office
Cheshire Ethiopia has officially made its head office more accessible with the launch of a brand-new three-stop elevator!
Inaugurated by our Board Chairperson, Dr Girma Ababi this pioneering step sets an exemplary standard for disability inclusion.
The project costs over 2.5 million Birr with the support from Ethiopiaid. The process faced delays of more than a year due to shipping challenges, but today it proudly stands as a symbol of perseverance and progress.
Accessibility is not a privilege; it’s a right.
