🔻11 American lawmakers in a letter addressed to the US Treasury Department pointed to blockchain and Distributed Ledger Technology as “new mechanisms” that guarantee quick and transparent money transfers.
The letter elaborates on the issue: “We strongly encourage the Treasury Department to utilize private sector innovations such as blockchain and DLT to support the necessary functions of government to distribute and track relief programs.”

In order to access or acquire this crypto, we need the exchanges to sell it to us, which is similar to the ISPs in the internet example. What is the blockchain equivalent of email addresses? Put simply, wallets. Without any place from which we can send and receive crypto, and have others receive it, we cannot use crypto.

🔺Speaking at the Unitize conference on July 9, Richard Holden, an economics professor said distributed ledger technology (DLT) has the potential to increase voter turnout and have a “meaningful effect” on the outcome of U.S. elections. He said using distributed ledger technology could allay Republican concerns over mail-in voter fraud, but would likely benefit the Democratic Party.
The economics professor concluded that despite security vulnerabilities that DLT voting procedures expose, “election law will have to adapt.”
