The CFTC charges a Florida man over a $397 MILLION crypto Ponzi scheme with 1,600 victims.
Christopher Delgado and his firm Goliath Ventures allegedly lied about putting customer funds in DeFi liquidity pools.
Instead he spent $48 million on a yacht, $4.9 million on world travel and $2.9 million on luxury apparel and jewelry.
Delgado already pleaded guilty to wire fraud in June and faces up to 20 years per count. The SEC filed parallel charges Tuesday.

Netflix announced the premiere date for the series The Altruists, which depicts the collapse of FTX on November 19. The story centers on Sam Bankman-Fried and Caroline Ellison, two idealists accused of embezzling $8 billion. FTX went bankrupt in November 2022, and Bankman-Fried was arrested the following December.
Julia Garner and Anthony Boyle star as Ellison and Bankman-Fried. The eight-episode series is partly based on articles from New York Magazine.

Trump's statements may have triggered the early phase of altseason, CryptoQuant analysts say.
From 19 to 22 August, altcoin market cap rose more than 24%, adding $215 billion. Total2, the crypto market's value excluding Bitcoin, moved back above $1 trillion. Mid- and small-cap coins led gains.
Now, 56% of altcoins trade above their 200-day moving average, up from 15-20%. CryptoQuant calls this a regime shift, but warns the market is overbought and may pause before continuing higher.
