π Welcome to CosmoRide!
CosmoRide is an educational program that connects Russian language learning, space, and intercultural communication.
We believe that language is easier and much more exciting to learn when it has a real context. Thatβs why we are creating a program where students can explore Russian through space-related topics, missions, teamwork, and culture.
Here, weβll share our journey, mini Russian lessons, behind-the-scenes updates, and ideas about why communication matters in the future of space.

Why CosmoRide matters? We need more than rockets and rovers in space. We also need writers, educators and linguists. Technologies can fly to the Moon or Mars. But only humans can build trust, tell stories, and truly listen across cultures.Thatβs where CosmoRide comes in.
Our educational program gives Russian teachers of English international teaching experience, and gives U.S. engineering and aerospace students the Russian they will actually use in careers at NASA, ESA, SpaceX, Blue Origin, and the international space community. CosmoRide connects russian language learning, aerospace context, intercultural communication and teamwork.

Meet the team behind CosmoRide
We are three Russian educators, exchange alumni (YEAR and Fulbright) and language lovers who believe that understanding each other is the most important skill. We are three women from different cities in Russia: Cheboksary, Samara and Belgorod. We've lived, studied, and taught on both sides of the ocean. And now we want to share what we've learned with you. One our shared belief that language connects people, even across space.
Let's start the ride with us!

What if one handshake could change the future of space exploration?
On July 15, 1975, something extraordinary happened above Earth. For the first time in history, an American Apollo spacecraft and a Soviet Soyuz spacecraft successfully docked in orbit, creating a bridge between two countries that had spent decades competing in the Space Race.
ApolloβSoyuz was a lesson in communication, trust and the power of people to work together beyond borders.
At CosmoRide, we work with language barriers bring Russian as a second language to the USA and we believe that the future of space belongs to those who can build technology and understand each otherπ

The crew of two countries: Thomas Stafford, Vance Brand and Donald βDekeβ Slayton (USA) and Alexey Leonov and Valery Kubasov (USSR). They spent several days working together in space, conducting scientific experiments, sharing meals, and demonstrating that cooperation was possible even during times of political tension.

A small gift can carry a very big message
During the ApolloβSoyuz mission in 1975, American astronauts and Soviet cosmonauts exchanged symbolic gifts while orbiting Earth. The crews wanted to celebrate a successful mission and a new chapter of cooperation.
Among the gifts were:
πΉA wooden plaque with mission emblems, representing friendship between the two
πΉMedallions created especially for the mission, symbols of this historic moment.
πΉFlags of both countries as a reminder that exploration can unite people beyond political differences.
Human connection is built through communication, curiosity and respect for other cultures.

5 Leadership lessons from Apollo-Soyuz for teams
In 1975, at the height of the Cold War, the Apollo-Soyuz mission proved that even competitors can achieve extraordinary results when united by a common goal. Nearly 50 years later, its lessons are just as relevant for modern teams and leaders.
Apollo-Soyuz reminds us that great collaboration isnβt built on similarity-itβs built on communication, trust and a shared goal. Read the cards below and get inspired together with us!
