The same pair on Binance and Bybit can move differently. Different fills, different fees, different liquidity, sometimes a different price.
For arbitrage, that gap is mostly a trap. By the time you buy on Exchange A, transfer the coin, and sell on Exchange B, the gap is closed and fees ate your edge.
But the gap itself is real information:
- Big, persistent gaps can flag exchange problems: frozen withdrawals, technical issues, low liquidity on one platform.
- They show where the real pressure sits. If one exchange consistently leads, that's where demand is.
- They tell you which exchange to actually run your bot on.
This matters more for bots. A 3Commas bot runs on one exchange per pair, and that choice shapes your fills, your TP hits, and your effective fees. If one exchange consistently lags on your pair, move the bot. If you run the same bot on several exchanges, the comparison itself is the data.
Use cross-exchange differences to pick the right venue. Not as a strategy. As a filter.

The double-sweep: price grabs the stops below a low, baits longs in, then sweeps a fresh low and stops them out, right before the real move up.

Your first 3Commas bot, in 5 minutes.
A clean walkthrough for anyone who landed in the app and isn't sure where to click first.
1. Connect an exchange. Generate API keys on your exchange (Binance, Kraken, Bybit), paste them into 3Commas. Trading permission on, withdrawals off.
2. Pick a bot type. DCA for trending markets, Grid for sideways, Signal if you already have a strategy to automate. Not sure? Start with DCA.
3. Choose a pair and a preset. BTC/USDT or another high-volume pair, then a strategy template to skip the manual config.
4. Test in Paper Trading first. Same logic, virtual money. Watch it for a day or two before you risk real capital.
5. Go live, small. Switch off Paper Mode and start with a size you're comfortable losing. Scale from there.
Five steps. No magic.

Round numbers are magnets. $70k, $80k, $100k. Stops pile up just under them, and that's where price gets pushed before it reverses.
So don't average at the round number. Set your DCA order slightly below, where the stops sit: $69,500, not $70,000. The Price Ladder lets you place each level exactly.
One rule: always set a max drawdown. Precision without risk limits still blows up accounts.

Range-bound markets aren't dead. They're either accumulation (after a drop) or distribution (after a run-up), and that changes how you set your bot.
Accumulation: price chops sideways, big players quietly buy, fake breakouts point down. Distribution is the mirror, fake breakouts point up while they sell into the excitement.
How to spot it: price holds a range, breakouts keep failing, volume spikes only on the real moves, sentiment sits at an extreme.
If it's accumulation, a Neutral Grid Bot fits. Set the grid a bit wider than the obvious support and resistance, use medium spacing so fees don't eat you, and turn on Trailing Up so the grid follows when the breakout finally comes.
