Italy will issue on June 11, 2024, a 5-euro coin in 925 silver plated with rhodium dedicated to the song "Albachiara."

"Albachiara" is a song by Vasco Rossi, which the Italian singer-songwriter released on May 25, 1979. It was the only single from the album "Non siamo mica gli americani!". You can listen to it here.

The coin weighs 18 grams and has a diameter of 32 millimeters. It was designed by Silvia Petrassi and will have a mintage of 10,000 pieces. On the obverse, there is a vinyl record with the song's lyrics in the center. The reverse features a young girl depicted holding books while eating an apple.

Once released, the coin will be available for purchase at the official IPZS store, the Italian mint, at a price of €90 plus shipping. However, the shipping costs are so high that it might be worth waiting for your usual numismatist to get it.
Estonia is issuing today, May 21, its commemorative 2-euro coin dedicated to the Cornflower, the country's national flower.

Designed by Kaupo Kangro, this is the third piece in the "Symbols of Estonia" series. It has a mintage of 1 million units, of which 12,000 will be in coincards, and the rest will be put into circulation.

The coin can be purchased from the online store of Omniva, Estonia's public postal service. The loose coin can be obtained at face value, while the coincard costs €12.20. Shipping costs are additional to these prices.

Today we learned that Monaco will put its 2024 commemorative 2-euro coin, dedicated to the 500th Anniversary of the Treaty of Burgos with Charles V, on sale on June 17 at 10:00 AM (Madrid time).

The coin can be purchased from the online store of the Museum of Stamps and Coins of Monaco, although you must have an account on the website. The issue price is not yet known, but last year's coin cost €130 plus €40 for shipping.
France puts on sale today, June 4th, the collector’s presentations of its second commemorative 2-euro coin for 2024, dedicated to the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.

The presentations are as follows (official prices at the Monnaie de Paris, the French mint, where they can be purchased, and to which shipping costs must be added):

- Roll: mintage of 8,000 rolls, €59
- BU Coincard: mintage of 10,000 units, €11
- Colored Proof Case: mintage of 20,000 units, €22
- Inverse Proof Case: mintage of 4,000 units, €22
Andorra has presented today the themes and designs for its two commemorative 2-euro coins for 2024:

- One will be dedicated to the Mountain Bike World Championship, which this year will be held in the Principality.
- The other will be for the 100th anniversary of the arrival of skiing in Andorra.

The coins will be minted at the Spanish FNMT, and there will be a mintage of 60,000 each. The release date is not yet known.
The Vatican presented yesterday the design of its first commemorative 2-euro coin of 2024, dedicated to the 750th anniversary of the death of Saint Thomas Aquinas.

The coin will have a mintage of:

- 67,000 units in BU blister packs, priced at 19€ plus shipping costs
- 9,000 units in Proof cases, priced at 37€ plus shipping costs

Its release date is July 3.

Slovenia announced the results of the design competition for its commemorative 2-euro coin a couple of days ago. The coin is dedicated to the 100th anniversary of Miki Muster’s birth.

Out of the 33 submitted designs, the winner was Robert Žvokelj’s design.

Miki Muster was a Slovenian artist known for his work as a sculptor, illustrator, comic book artist, and animator. He is considered a pioneer in comics and animation in Slovenia, and he gained particular fame for the comic series featuring the characters Zvitorepec, Trdonja, and Lakotnik.

We still don’t know the mintage or the issuance date of the coin.
A couple of days ago, we learned the design of the 2024 commemorative 2-euro coin from Croatia, which will be dedicated to the city of Varaždin.

The coin features Varaždin Castle, dating back to the 14th century, and is one of the most notable examples of Gothic and Baroque architecture in Croatia.

This coin will be the first in a new series titled "Cities of Croatia," for which we currently have no further details.

There will be 200,000 coins minted. We know that 5,000 will be in proof finish, but we do not yet know about the other presentations. The issuance date is July 2nd.
Lithuania has announced that the theme of its 2025 commemorative 2-euro coin will be National Defense.

Although the Bank of Lithuania has not specified anything further about the theme, next year the Lithuanian Armed Forces will celebrate the 35th anniversary of their reestablishment following the fall of the Soviet Union.

The coin will have a mintage of 1 million units, of which 10,000 will be in Brilliant Uncirculated (BU) coincards.

We still do not know the design or the release date.
The Vatican has unveiled the design of its second commemorative 2-euro coin for 2024, dedicated to the scientist Guglielmo Marconi on the occasion of the 150th anniversary of his birth.

The piece was designed by the Italian artist Loredana Pancotto. We still do not know the mintage or the release date.
Finland issued its second commemorative 2-euro coin of 2024 on August 30th. This coin is dedicated to Gesellius, Lindgren, Saarinen, a Finnish architecture firm from the early 20th century.

The mintage is 400,000 units, with 4,800 of them presented in a proof case. They can be purchased at moneta.fi, the official website of Finland's distributor.

The official price is €5.95 for the uncirculated version and €24.95 for the proof version, plus shipping costs. However, due to high shipping fees, it is recommended to wait for your regular numismatist to stock it.
This week, it was announced that France will issue a commemorative 2-euro coin in 2025 dedicated to the Louvre Museum.

Although the design is not yet known, we do know that the mintage will be 315,000 pieces, and the tentative release date is January 2025.
The Mint of Finland (Suomen Rahapaja) has announced that it will close its doors in the spring of 2025. Based in Vantaa, on the outskirts of Helsinki, it was established by Tsar Alexander II in 1860, when Finland was still part of the Russian Empire.

According to the official statement, "the decision is based on global payment changes and weakened business conditions."

The statement also says that "during the summer of 2024, the company has held change negotiations concerning all staff. As a result of the change negotiations, all employees will be dismissed at the end of operations."
Cyprus will issue a commemorative 2-euro coin in 2024, dedicated to the 20th Anniversary of its Accession to the European Union.

The only known image of its design is the low-quality one you see above. We do not yet have an exact release date, but we do know that the mintage will be 400,000 pieces, of which 7,000 will be in a proof case.
Slovakia unveiled last July the result of the design competition for its 2025 commemorative 2-euro coin, dedicated to the 100th Anniversary of the First International Sports Tournament held in the country, the 1925 European Ice Hockey Championship.

Out of 10 designs by 8 different authors, the winning entry was selected as that of Karol Ličko.

The design is dominated by the figure of a hockey player in motion. The background landscape is divided by a horizontal strip of trees and the Tatra Mountains rising above, which the hockey player figure divides into two parts. At the same time, the landscape serves as a counterbalance to the moving hockey player, achieving a compositional balance for the artist.
Slovakia has issued today, September 19, its 2024 commemorative 2-euro coin, dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the Košice Marathon.

Designed by Roman Lugar, the total mintage of the coin is 1 million pieces. Today, 995,000 are being put into circulation in rolls, while in mid-October, 5,000 units will be sold in a proof case.

The coin can be purchased at the official store of the Kremnica Mint, where it was minted, at a price of €2.70 plus shipping costs.
Germany revealed this week the design of its 2025 commemorative 2-euro coin dedicated to the 35th anniversary of the country's reunification.

Designed by artist Thomas Serres, it will have a mintage of 30 million units and will be issued in September 2025.

This coin will be the first in a series titled "Unity, Justice, and Freedom," in which each year will honor a politician who has had a significant impact on the history of the Federal Republic of Germany.
