Another Weibo rumor via Macworld reports the iPhone 18 Pro Max could get a camera with a variable rate aperture, similar to lenses on a DSLR or mirrorless camera

📋 Updated specs
Of course, what’s an update without better specs? Rumored new A20 processor chips might use a process called Wafer-Level Multi-Chip Module, resulting in better efficiency and faster performance as the GPU, CPU and neural engine would all be located on the same chip.

Penny for your thoughts? Better raise the price.

The penny’s last pressing took place on Nov. 12 at the Philadelphia Mint, but not without a special goodbye. The final five ceremonial pennies include a tiny omega symbol, a mark that distinguishes them from the day’s larger batch of standard coins. 

Those last five pennies will be auctioned off by the government on Thursday, December 11, 2025, at 12 p.m. EST (9 a.m. PST). The auction will be hosted on the Stack’s Bowers Galleries website.

One well-known appraiser, John Feigenbaum, told USA Today that he believes the very last pennies might reach $2 million to $5 million each as the bidding wars start. 

“Collectors would go nuts for a modern rarity of business-strike Lincoln cents,” said Feigenbaum, the publisher of rare coin price guide Greysheet.

What’s the cost of showing up at airport security without a Real ID, besides annoying TSA and possibly missing your flight? Soon, it could be $18 per person, nonrefundable.

The Transportation Security Administration is proposing the fee for travelers who show up at airport security without a valid Real ID, which could include an enhanced driver’s license or a passport.

“This modernized, technology-enabled program will provide additional methods of alternative identity verification beyond what TSA currently provides and reduce the time required to verify identities using the existing method,” the TSA’s administration said in the proposal. “The current alternative identity verification process is time- and resource-intensive, limiting the number of individuals for whom TSA can provide the service.”

There’s no information on what would happen next with the proposal, or when it might move forward. It’s unclear when, if approved, the $18 fee would begin.

The iPhone Pocket isn’t Apple’s only iPhone accessory to launch this month.

On Thursday, Apple added the Hikawa Phone Grip and Stand to its online store. It’s an adaptive, ergonomic accessory that was designed using input from people with a range of disabilities, including ones affecting dexterity, grip and hand control. 

The $69.95 Hikawa Phone Grip and Stand is MagSafe compatible, and functions as both a stabilizing grip and a vertical or horizontal stand for propping up an iPhone. It’s made of silicone and has a triangular shape, with curved ridges along its outside and a hole in the center.

You can choose from a greenish-yellow chartreuse or a color Apple calls “crater,” which is gray with white and black specks. The accessory is available for a limited time on Apple’s online store in the US.
