.@NOAAโ€™s newest solar monitoring satellite, Space Weather Follow On-Lagrange 1 (SWFO-L1), is slated to launch this fall!

From roughly a million miles away, #SWFOL1 will track coronal mass ejections (CMEs) and other types of solar activity to provide advanced warning of potentially disruptive #SpaceWeather.

.@NOAAโ€™s first satellite fully dedicated to continuous, operational #SpaceWeather monitoring has arrived in Florida!

The Space Weather Follow On - Lagrange 1 (#SWFOL1) ๐Ÿ›ฐ๏ธ will launch this fall and head to Lagrange point 1 (~1 million miles from Earth) where it will keep constant watch of the sun and near-Earth environment.

The Solar Ultraviolet Imager (#SUVI) onboard @NOAA's #GOESEast ๐Ÿ›ฐ๏ธ captured this coronal mass ejection (#CME) on August 5.

NOAA's #SWFOL1 ๐Ÿ›ฐ๏ธ, scheduled to launch this fall, will improve our ability to monitor and predict this kind of solar activity and #SpaceWeather, which can severely impact the nation's satellites, power grid and communications systems.

Combined effects from a CME which lifted off the Sun on 05 Aug and a coronal hole high speed stream are expected to cause geomagnetic storming on 08-09 Aug. A G2 (Moderate) watch was issued for 08 Aug with the onset of activity. A G1 (Minor) watch was issued for 09 Aug. https://t.co/KgKFfLpzSu

It's #InternationalYouthDay, and just like kids, the sun can have BIG bursts of energy!

This fall, @NOAA will launch #SWFOL1โ€”a satellite that will monitor the sun from a special location in space to help keep Earth safe from the effects of #SpaceWeather.

Great news!
Weโ€™re excited for #SWFOL1 to be one of your rideshare partners on this journey to learn more about the sun and #SpaceWeather.

Looking forward to launch!

IMAP arrived in its new clean room for fueling!

Technicians carefully loaded more than 317 pounds of hydrazine into three tanks on the observatory.

IMAP, along with two rideshare missions, will launch on a SpaceX Falcon 9 NET September. https://t.co/tZdEDeirk8 https://t.co/boSnwtOh3Z

Our stormy sun released two spectacular solar prominences on August 20, 2025, and the Solar Ultraviolet Imager (#SUVI) onboard @NOAA's #GOES19 ๐Ÿ›ฐ๏ธ caught the eruptions.

With the upcoming launch of NOAA's #SWFOL1 ๐Ÿ›ฐ๏ธ, weโ€™ll gain even more insight into these events to support @NWSSWPC's #SpaceWeather forecasts.
