Haydock, commenting on Jesus’ entry into Jerusalem, points out that the donkey and the colt the Apostles were instructed to bring to Jesus represent the Jews and Gentiles, respectively

The colt, not having been ridden on before, represents the Gentiles, who have yet to receive the Divine Revelation entrusted to the Jews

The fact that the Apostles are the ones instructed to retrieve both the donkey and colt for Christ to sit on signifies the dominion the Church is to have over Jews and Gentiles alike, all under the yoke of Christ

when we commit a mortal sin, the will has union with evil in a manner somewhat analogous to conjugal intimacy (as St Thomas says, the intellect/will in some way *becomes* or has union with the object known/willed)

this is ultimately why mortal sin is so incompatible with living in the state of God’s grace, a state that is itself analogous to nuptial union with the Divine Himself

“The whole earth keeps silence because the King is asleep.

To say multiple things “are” such and such, this implies a metaphysical category of existence which transcends particular modes of participation in existence

And if “existence” is something that has to be received and participated in, then there must be some reality in Whom existence is not received or partaken of in any respect, ie, the pure, unconditioned act of Existence itself upon Whom everything else must depend for its participated mode of existence

Were this not the case, existence would be purely derivative along an infinite chain of beings that do not have existence in virtue of what they are, and therefore existence could’t “get” to anything in the first place, and nothing would exist
