Content enrichment

Prof. Alok Sagar - quote as an example

1. Look up his work on Google

2. Spend 5 mins to mentally brainstorm how you would use his example:

A. Which papers would you use his example in?
B. What kinds of questions (what topics) could you include his example in

(See comments for answers)

I am doing a Pub Ad guidance session tomorrow (6th July, 11 am) with Abhishiekh Saxena sir of GS Score

We were thinking of what our student community needs the most at this moment--> so we have decided to discuss the following:

What you can do in the next 20 days to maximise your score in Public Administration.

This will also help you break your inertia with your optional since you know that our performance in Optional is vital to our rank in UPSC.

ESSAY FAQ

INTERPRETING TOPICS, where to find more topics, brainstorming

1. Build the skill of interpreting topics, ensuring that you understand them well- especially the philosophical topics
2. Practice brainstorming so that you are able to brainstorm in 15-20 mins for each topic during the actual exam (you can pick up the attached file daily whenever you need a break from other studies and.simply brainstorm the topics- you can take 10-15 mins for this practice).
3. Check if you interpreted the topic wrong (this is mostly the reason why you might end up getting less than 100 in essay)

I'm sending you a file which has Essay topics. Use this for brainstorming .

Make sure you have done the same for PYQ essay topics too

The above was the advice my mentors Qazi Muhazib and Sachin Arora sir had given me when we were writing mains 2023 (MMP)

Use the file below👇🏼-- it is a compilation of topics- practice brainstorming using this (AFTER YOU HAVE seen PYQs)

MAINS 2024 FAQ: should you do Mains 365?

You can, it could help you with 2 things:
1. Content enrichment with current examples
2. Linking with static (see the boxes they give for eg. In Polity they will mention case laws/ articles etc)
3. You can also see diagrams/ graphs etc esp in Econ

There's also OnlyIAS documents which combine static and mains for each subject

Do either ONE and Not BOTH

If your notes for mains are already ready with current and static integration and content enrichment, you can skip such compilations

Whatever you do keep one thing in mind:

Don't compromise writing those answers/ mocks for simply reading and reading endlessly.

Mains is a game of answer WRITING and FINISHING THAT PAPER IN 3 HOURS.

Essay and ethics: repurpose your content

A LOT OF YOUR ETHICS CONTENT CAN BE REPURPOSED FOR ESSAY TOO, so be very alert and mindful about how your ethics notes and content can be used for essay

Brainstorm this actively- especially my 2024 mains community members.

2025 STUDENTS
You can even ALIGN your ethics and essay preparation

(For eg. I used to write my ethics examples and have another column on how I would use it for essay too)

Diagram: Permafrost timebomb- content Enrichment

Can take a quick note of this diagram and add it to your notes.

This could come handy in GS 1 as well as GS 3.

2024 mains students: do not worry at all if this isn't your notes- it's not a common topic. Just make a quick note- and whatever you do- no fomo at all, I myself didn't know this diagram for quite sometime.

2025 students: add it to your GS 1 notes and practice it.

PYQ relation: Permafrost has been an important theme

Essay Anecdote: content enrichment

Do read V Kamakoti sir's anecdote from his article in 2023

1. How will you use the quote by Dr. Abdul Kalam Ji he mentions? How will you use V Kamakoti's own anecdote?
2. Is there another GS paper you can quote this in? For which sub-topic?
