They visited Hunter Water, a public corporation responsible for clean, waste and recycled water in New South Wales.
Cleaned piped water provides nourishment, prevents diseases, is great for agriculture and food production and improves sanitation facilities. Access to clean water is essential for enabling women and girls to devote more time to the pursuit of education and income generation.

Today is World Food Safety Day. A day which reminds us that good food standards save lives and support better food security, human health and sustainable development.
Australia is working with Cambodia to lift food safety production and standards through product research and development and legal frameworks.
So far, we have established guidelines for input labelling and package marking model for plant protection products (pesticides and nutrients) to produce food that is safe to eat. We have also helped set up a QR code system for farmers to access information on how to use inputs, verify product quality and avoid potentially harmful counterfeits.
Through our Cambodia Australia Partnership for Resilient Economic Development (CAPRED) program, we are working on regulations under the Law on Plant Protection and Quarantine, particularly the national standard on Maximum Residue Limits of pesticide residues.

These cows are now producing a remarkable 12,000–15,000 litres of fresh milk every day.
Australia has a long history of supporting the Cambodian agriculture industry. We helped Kirisu upgrade food safety standards and quality management systems in their factories, resulting in their FSSC 22000 certification. Now, you can see Kirisu products in Cambodian supermarkets next to imported brands.
Ambassador Whyatt visited Kirisu farm and tasted their delicious range of milk, yoghurt, and butter.
We continue our support to the development of Cambodia’s agri-food processing through our economic development program, the Cambodia Australia Partnership for Resilient Economic Development (CAPRED).

Australia is a strong supporter of Cambodia’s clean, piped water infrastructure. We are working to support Cambodia to achieve universal access to clean water by 2030.
Ambassador Whyatt recently visited an Australia-supported water treatment plant and met with Mr. Chao Soeun, one of 80 piped water beneficiaries in Bati district’s Kandoeng commune, to see the progress in supplying clean, piped, treated water to the whole commune.
This piped water infrastructure has benefited almost 2,000 households, garment factories, schools, private clinics and health centres.

Women-led businesses and female entrepreneurs are central to Cambodia’s economic development. Yet women face many challenges and barriers to operate and grow their businesses due to gender stereotypes, prescribed gender roles and limited access to technology, finance, and professional networks.
Through the Cambodia Australia Partnership for Resilient Economic Development (CAPRED), 14 Cambodian female entrepreneurs recently visited Australia to meet with business owners, senior government officials and women’s association leaders to exchange knowledge and build professional networks.
