They explained to me that they have found it difficult this year, they cant really get anything going and its just been a rough start in general which i agree it has been. In 2026 we have seen some of the lowest volume and choppy markets since a few decades, especially February.
I told them to have confidence and to focus on survival. All that matters is how you finish. A newcomer coming into these markets its very likely they end up with a bad taste in their mouth about trading. Your first experience matters with everything, it usually shapes your opinion entirely. Trader 1 could have traded an easy trending market in year 1 and got a great start, trader 2 may have have started in a very choppy market and had a rough start perhaps they decide its not for them.
But what trader 2 doesnt realise here is that if they learn survival first then when easier price comes it will be a breeze. Trader 1 on the other hand going from a great start in yr 1 to a choppy low volume market in yr2 will have them itching their head. Maybe even roundtrip their profits in year 1.
