A truly monumental icon of the home brewing community has passed. Larry Sechler has been instrumental in helping scores people get started in home brewing as well as helping experienced brewers perfect their recipes.
With a smile and a swift joke Larry always had time to help, lending his vast knowledge of ingredients and sensory expertise to anyone requesting help.
Every brewer who met Larry will have a great story about a time spent with him over his many years. Feel free to leave your story below.
The Memorial service will be Sat the 26th at 2:00, visitation - 12:30 to 1:45 at Lady's funeral home.

Just Economics is excited to announce a date for Just Brew It 2023 and open brewer applications!
Just Brew It 2023 will take place on June 3rd at Pisgah Brewing, 2-6pm (1pm for VIPs). Our Just Brew It committee is beginning to work on the details, but we expect the event will be similar to last year, and we are excited to work with Pisgah Brewing again. We haven’t announced the date publicly, but we wanted to get it out to brewers as soon as possible so you can save the date.
We have opened brewer applications to compete in this year’s event. You are welcome to share the application with brewers you know who we might not have on our list. We are hoping to have brewer applications in by April 15th. Please fill out the brewer application if you want to participate in this year’s event: https://forms.gle/xrEaKaqPEHQkZqb58
Finally, I will be out of the office from January 30th-February 17th, so if you have questions you can reach out to a staff member working on Just Brew It, Lane Green, (lane@justeconomicswnc.org) or reach out to me after February 20th.
