(Rouhani is considered the moderate, Raisi is the radical.) Rouhani was driven out of office a few years ago, and has very recently been officially disqualified from consideration to become the next Supreme Leader, despite being the odds-on favorite. That means Raisi would likely become Supreme Leader, once the sick/old Ayatollah dies. (Expected very soon)

If Raisi is dead, then Rouhani is likely the guy to become Supreme Leader, and could moderate Iran the same way MBS has moderated Saudi Arabia.
