On October 5-6 and November 16, 2024, the BRICS+ CTF competitions (qualifying stage and finals) will be held at ITMO University, St. Petersburg.  ITMO University is among the top 100 world universities in computer science and is a member of 34 international associations hosting annually hundreds of international events.
We would be honored  if You consider the possibility of online participation of Your university students in these competitions. It will greatly enrich our tournament and present Your university as one of the leading universities in the field of IT technologies. It will also have a positive impact on the country's branding, increase opportunities for international dialogue and demonstrate best practices in digital technologies. Russia has serious developments in this field and is ready to offer its advanced solutions within the CTF movement.
"BRICS+ CTF" is an innovative international movement aimed to improve the skills of young IT specialists by connecting them with the best teams in this field.  The mission of the competition is to unite the peoples of the BRICS+ countries through the interaction of students, teachers, young scientists and representatives of universities.
The BRICS+ CTF competition program is aimed at bringing the countries closer together, promote mutual cooperation in IT sphere.
The competitions give young specialists an opportunity to demonstrate themselves as professionals; to compete with the strongest teams from more than 100 countries of the world; to become part of the initiative community and young IT ambassadors of their countries in the BRICS+ CTF.
 
 
 
"Capture the flag" (or CTF for short) is a cybersecurity competition. Teams are given a series of challenges related to cryptography, reverse engineering, web vulnerabilities, network security.
In 2019, the first BRICS CTF tournament was organized at Russia's leading university in the field of digital technologies - ITMO - as part of the work of the BRICS Network University. The competition was held in two stages: the qualifying stage in the online format brought together more than 1,100 teams, while 21 teams with the best results in the selections took part in the finals. The final part was held simultaneously in 5 countries - Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa in a face-to-face format. In 2023, more than 1000 teams from 105 countries took part in the BRICS+ competition.
This year, the first round will be held online in the CTF Jeopardy format. The best teams from the first round will be able to compete in the finals, held online in Attack-Defence format:
- Preliminaries (online) - October 5-6, duration 24 hours;
- Final (mixed format) - November 16, duration 8 hours.
The tasks will be related to the topic of global security in various spheres - financial, technological, economic, and personal.
The prize fund of the competition is 1,000,000 rubles.

As a result, we have allocated their spots to other international teams based on the qualification results. If "0ops" or "HawkSec" still wish to participate, please contact us via email as soon as possible.

Группа Астра» возглавила призовой фонд киберсоревнований BRICS+ CTF
 
5-6 октября 2024 года на базе университета ИТМО прошел отборочный этап международных онлайн-соревнований по кибербезопасности BRICS+ CTF.
 
Лидирующая компания в сегменте инфраструктурного и системного ПО «Группа Астра» выступила партнером мероприятия, приняв участие в формировании призового фонда в 1 000 000 рублей, который разделят между собой 3 команды-победителя турнира. Финал BRICS+ CTF пройдёт 16 ноября в формате CTF Attack — Defense (атака — защита), где после 8 часов битвы определятся те самые топ-3 команды.
 
Программа BRICS+ CTF нацелена на формирование кадровой базы для обеспечения информационной безопасности России, стран БРИКС и БРИКС+, а также на сближение стран, взаимную интеграцию и сотрудничество в таких наукоёмких областях, как информационная и кибербезопасность.
 
В отборочном туре соревнований (формат CTF Jeopardy) приняли участие 1 200 команд более чем из 100 стран мира. В каждой команде — до 7 человек в возрасте от 14 лет. Участникам было предложено 19 заданий из 6 категорий: веб, криптография, misc, PWN, реверс и htb. Самым лёгким среди них оказался shELFing из категории misc: его решили 173 команды. Самым сложным — задание xoshiro256++ по криптографии, которое не поддалось ни одному участнику. Интересный факт: в этом году задания были написаны на 13 разных языках программирования: Python, sagemath, Julia, Kotlin, Rust, Go, C, C++, Java, vlang, C#, TypeScript и Ruby, что на 4 языка больше, чем в прошлом.
По итогам отборочного тура в финал вышли 25 команд. «Группа Астра» желает им успеха, и пусть победит сильнейший!
