🕵🏻♀🕵🏻♂ Do you like detective riddles?
If you'd like to give it a go, I've found a few to test your wits 😉
1. A man is found dead, a book next to him. His cabin is locked from the inside. The police break in and find a note and a cassette recorder. The recorder has a message that says,
"Do not stand too close to the windows."
Why did he die?
2. James was having dinner at a friend's house. He drank five glasses of water, and his friend, drank just one. James died from poisoning, but his friend survived. How?
3. A woman shoots her husband, holds him underwater for five minutes, and then hangs him. Later, they go out for dinner. How is this possible?
Any assumptions and deductions are welcome 🧐

The answers:
1. He died from a sniper shot. The message was to trick him into standing away from a protective barrier.
2. The poison was in the ice cubes, which were only in James's glasses.
3. She took a photograph of her husband, developed it in water, and then hung the photo to dry.
Well done everyone who's racked their brains! ✨🔥

Some facts about Shirley Jackson (1916 - 1965):
1. She has a number of fans among modern writers, they include Stephen King, Neil Gaiman, Joyce Carol Oates, and Donna Tartt (called her stories "among the most terrifying ever written").
2. Jackson wasn’t just good with words. She loved to draw, and even considered becoming a professional cartoonist at one point. While her favorite subjects were cats 🐈
3. People thought “The Lottery” was a factual report. Jackson received several hundred letters from New Yorker subscribers, which were dominated by three main themes: in her words, “bewilderment, speculation, and plain old-fashioned abuse.” She was most alarmed by the letters from people who wanted to know where such lotteries were still held and whether they could watch.
