If I could go back to college, I’d vigorously pursue investment banking or corporate law. I’d be making $1m at age 30 and $10m at age 40. And my colleagues would be mostly Americans instead of immigrants whom I don’t enjoy working with.
EDIT: should mention I went to an Ivy League college, which doesn’t matter so much in tech, but matters a lot in the client driven industries of high-end finance and law.

My girlfriend of 1 year earns ~55k and I earn roughly 10x that. She hasn’t paid for a single date or meal the entire time, which makes me feel a bit of resentment about footing the bill for everything. Not even a coffee or dessert or snack here and there.
She has covered her portion of airfare and hotels when we travel, and she does have pet expenses that she (rightly) covers herself.
She will earn 600-700k in a few years when she finishes residency. I know she will contribute more then, but something still seems off because I’ve dated girls with the same salary and they would always contribute in small ways to show they care, even without me asking.
What’s fair in this situation? Should she contribute more financially, even in small ways?

Obsessed over future value of money

Today I chose ramen ($16) over sushi ($35) when I desperately wanted sushi. I had to tell the waiter I was not ready 3 different times because I was so indecisive.
I kept telling myself investing the extra $19 instead of spending it could be worth >$150 in 30 years.
This is a very common theme in my life where I am unwilling to indulge. I am completely able to afford it.

Yesterday I lost a close friend due to very low BP. He suffered a cardiac arrest in the middle of the night due to it. Both of us were in the same team at amazon for 5+ years before we got laid off and moved to different companies last year.
He was just 38! Ambitions, TC, titles, net worth are all good things to chase but the most important thing worth chasing is good health. Sit back for a few minutes and think about whats important in life. He has 2 kids. I pray that his family gets strength to recover from this.
