The idea for this house in Constantia, in the wine country outside Cape Town, came when the owner bought a book on the world’s treehouses and resolved to have one of his own. #malan_vorster, a firm of architects in Cape Town, devised a house which borrows from the structure of trees themselves. The house, which sits on stilts two metres high in a forest clearing, consists of four cylinders, each with a trunk-like column running through its centre and branching at the top to hold up the ceiling. Discover the other ingenious way this house mimics the trees by clicking on 1843's handle and following the link in their bio. #architecture
