xCloud is back (at least for me)

I'm experimenting a new method to fix the laggy video in Better xCloud app on Android TV

Tested on my CCwGTV 4K with DOOM 1993:
- Previous version: struggling even at 720p/Low
- New version: stable at 60FPS + 1080p/High, although the sound still lags behind

So if your Android TV can only play with Kiwi Browser, wait for a few days 😉

- Reduce audio’s base latency on some devices (up to 90%) and other small fixes.
- The crashing bug in old 0.16.3 build has been fixed. Re-download to fix it.

I want to spend time on working/coding/playing, not doing boring supporting tasks.

- Add General > Force low-latency audio option in App settings (default to OFF). This may fix crashing on some devices.
- Disable the Back button while playing
- Add support for DivestOS Mulch WebView and Thorium WebView.
- Using these WebViews may improve the performance on your device

Previously when I used Mulch/Thorium WebView on CCwGTV 4k, I got a stable performance at 1080p/High/60FPS. But today when I tried again the stream was stuttering again. I’m still trying to find out why. So this method may or may not improve the performance on your device as I stated few days ago.

As far as I know, the Xbox app on Fire TV isn’t native. It’s only a WebView wrapper for the xbox.com/play website. So in theory, if xCloud works in the Xbox app, it should work with the Better xCloud app too (better-xcloud.github.io/android).

Guide: Best setup for Chromecast for Google TV 4k

- Result:
- Before: choppy video and sound, even at 720p/Low.
- Now: playable at 720p/High/60fps. Can even play at 1080p, but the device gets hot quickly and throttles the performance.

- Also works on:
- Xiaomi TV Box 4k 2nd gen, 1080p/High
- Onn TV Box 2023, 1080p/High

Only tested on CCwGTV 4k, hopefully it still applies to other devices.
Share the result whether it works for you or not.
But don’t ask me for help if it doesn’t improve performance on other devices, I can’t do anything.
