Upcoming feature for Android app: create a shortcut to open the stream directly from the Home screen

🐞 Need beta testers for the Shortcut feature in the Android app

# Install:
1. Install the attached app
2. Settings > Update Better xCloud script

# How to use
1. View the page info of the game you want to create shortcut for
2. Click on the Shortcut button next to the Back button on the Toolbar.
3. Add to Home screen
4. Open the shortcut on Home screen, wait until the page is fully loaded.
5. If it works, the app will redirect you to the stream automatically.
6. 🔥 You can create shortcut for Remote Play consoles too. Just open the Remote Play popup and you’ll see the icon.

# Note
- You’ll won’t see the shortcuts on Android TV unless the launcher supports showing shortcuts.
- There is a bug with Handheld Launcher on Logitech G Cloud. I don’t know why 🤷‍♂️

I'm going to port Better xCloud from Javascript to Typescript. The script is getting bigger and more difficult to maintain.

This process will take some time (maybe 1-2 weeks). During that time you won't see any new updates unless there are breaking bugs.

Work-in-progress xCloud website features:
- Change account visibility
- A link to change gamertag: https://social.xbox.com/changegamertag
- A “Accessories manager” feature that allow you to send controller input to other devices (it has a new "Click to send input" button)??? This is my speculation. There is also this link: https://aka.ms/accsSetup
- New feature for wishlist: “Notify me when my list items are in Game Pass”.

Did you know: there was a feature called "Xbox Together" that allows you to let your friends watch your xCloud gameplay. I found this screenshot in the website.

I saw this feature' code many months ago and I think it was abandoned.

I’m still focusing all my time on porting Better xCloud script to TypeScript so I don’t have time for fixing bugs or answering questions.

I didn’t use TypeScript back then because I didn’t expect the script to get this big.

It’s about 50% done. After that I’ll need your helps to test the new version.

Another day, another update in the “Accessories Manager” feature (it has client/server input mode)

I’m really curious about this one.
Maybe it really is the cloud-supported controller which directly connects to the xCloud server (and reduces input latency).

Maybe it will come with the Meta Quest VR - Xbox edition that was announced today?

Proof that xCloud is testing a new controller in the “Takehome” Insider ring (internal testers).

Good news: the script is now successfully ported to TypeScript and functional.

Next step: I’ll start looking for bugs. After that I’ll share the beta version. This version won’t have any new features.

Using TypeScript makes it easier to: add features, maintain the project & prevent bugs.
