What is your experience of the Android app so far?

- Your phone/Android TV & chipset?
- Performance (better or worse than Kiwi)?
- Battery life?

If your experience is not good I’m suspecting it was because the device’s chipset doesn’t support hardware accelerated for H.264 decoding. I heard that most Snapdragon & Exynos chipsets have this feature. I’ll add a feature to detect this. For now you can use this app: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=net.tyniw.mediacodecinfo.application

Unlike Kiwi Browser, Android WebView doesn’t have a built-in H.264 decoder which is why the app might crash or doesn’t work as good as Kiwi.

So if you have those chipsets I’d recommend using the app, otherwise keep using Kiwi.

🐞 If you can’t play xCloud in Kiwi Browser (with or without Better xCloud) then you’re not alone

The new Kiwi Browser version v124 caused this problem. To fix this, you need to uninstall Kiwi, then install an older version v120: https://www.apkmirror.com/apk/geometry-ou/kiwi-browser-fast-quiet/kiwi-browser-fast-quiet-120-0-6099-116-release/

Don’t forget to disable auto-update for Kiwi in Play Store.

This bug doesn’t occur in the Android app.

☝️🤓 Today’s tip for Better xCloud

If you want to save battery life & gain some performance try to turn on this Disable xCloud analytics setting.

It will disable some stat collecting tasks running periodically in the background. It also reduces a tiny bit of input lag while playing. You’ll won’t be able to notice it, but it really helps in the long term.

My laptop is broken at the moment and I won't be able to work for a few days.

Hoping the xCloud website doesn't update anything that could break Better xCloud during that time.

Which game(s) should I play during that time? Just finished the first playthrough of The Quarry.

Click on profile picture > Settings > Enable "Preview features" > Refresh page.
Switch browser to fullscreen mode when playing to activate MKB.

Of course this feature is only available for desktop browsers.
