Hello friends

In this video I've showcased notable questions from the RJC and EJC Chemical Bonding Tutorials.

The first qn (EJC Challenging Q1) is a very good real-life application question that you can expect to see tested for your Promo exams.

The rest of the questions are from the RJC tutorial - more fundamental Chem Bonding questions that you must know how to answer.

hey guys, check out this balancing redox equation from the 2022 A Levels.

it's abit more interesting, and those from ACJC might have some trouble doing this cus it's in your sch tutorial this year.

but everyone, try it and then view my solutions below
Spoiler alert: Solutions

the dianion is symmetrical. There are 2 Cs bonded to OH, and 2 Cs in CO2-.

we can hence assume that the two types of Cs in this dianion are oxidised to two types of products, HCO2- and CO2

so for the oxidation equation,

C4H4O6 (2-) --> 2HCO2- + 2CO2

the Os are not balanced, so add 2H2O on the left side.

C4H4O6 (2-) + 2H2O --> 2HCO2- + 2CO2

now balance the H with H+, and add electrons.

C4H4O6 (2-) + 2H2O --> 2HCO2- + 2CO2 + 6H+ + 6e-
