Dance of the Ancestors: "In the Kayak"

Did you know that movement can tell a story of survival and the sea? For centuries, the indigenous Chukchi and Eskimo (Yupik) peoples of the far north have expressed their connection to the ocean through dance.

This particular dance is called "На Каяке" (In the Kayak). It’s more than just a performance; it is a living tradition. With every gesture, you can see the hunter paddling through the icy waters, the balance of the body against the waves, and the respect for the powerful Arctic nature.

Proud to share the rhythm of Chukotka and Alaska ❄️

❄️ The Last Great Race on Earth has started! 🐺

For over 50 years, since 1973, Alaska has hosted the Iditarod, a legendary sled dog race that tests the strength of humans, animals, and their unbreakable bond.

But you know, this story has a soul. The race commemorates the Great Race of Mercy in 1925, when more than 40 mushers passed the precious diphtheria vaccine to each other in the bitter cold to save the children of Nome City. The serum was delivered in just 5 days — it was quite a feat!

Today, the spirit of that heroism lives on on the 1,600km course. The competitors are fighting not only for victory (a prize of ~$50,000), but also for the right to make history. Every finish here is a win. And the last one to arrive will receive a consolation but honorary prize, the Red Lantern, which will hang from the famous arch in Nome.

P.S. A huge thank you to our friend Curtis for the opportunity to see this power and beauty! Sharing his incredible photos and videos 🎥🔥

Welcome to the Bering Bridge!

This channel was created for one simple purpose: to connect the right and left banks of the Bering Strait.

In this video, I’ve put together some small glimpses of our culture. I would be absolutely thrilled if friends from the Alaska side would send me videos as well—I’d love to share them here on the channel.

We also have a chat where we can communicate and talk between Alaska and Chukotka. Maybe we’ll find new friends, and even reconnect with relatives and loved ones.

Let’s build this bridge together. 🤝

There’s nothing quite like the aurora borealis. Whether over Chukotka or Alaska, the sky comes alive with swirling colors — greens, purples, reds — dancing as if painted by something beyond this world.

The Chukchi have a beautiful belief: it’s not just light. It’s the spirits of those who’ve passed — our loved ones — dancing in the sky, happy and free.

Nature and legend, together in one breathtaking moment. 🌌
