Знаменитая статуэтка Приза «Бенуа де ла Данс» была сделана Игорем Устиновым – представителем семьи Бенуа, а сам приз получил имя крупнейшего деятеля мирового театра - художника Александра Бенуа, одного из вдохновителей знаменитых Русских сезонов начала XX века. Игорь Устинов вспоминает: "Арт-директор Бенуа де ла Данс Нина Кудрявцева-Лури побывала в Музее семьи Бенуа и увидела мои работы. Когда Большой театр был в Париже, она пришла в мою мастерскую и предложила создать скульптуру Приза «Бенуа де ла Данс». Так родился наш Приз.

The Benois de la Danse Prize’s statuette was created by Igor Ustinov and the award itself was named after one of the largest figures in world theatre – the artist Alexandre Benois. He was one of the main sources of inspiration for the famous Russian Seasons that took place at the beginning of the 20th century. Igor Ustinov recalls: «Art Director of Benois de la Danse Nina Kudryavtseva-Loory visited the Benois Family Museum and saw my work. When the Bolshoi Theatre was in Paris, she came to my studio and offered to create a sculpture of the Benois de la Danse Prize».
