Punishments Of A Sinner

Ibn al-Qayyim رحمه الله: The punishments of a sinner are as follows;
• Being deprived of Islamic knowledge (‘Ilm)
• Feeling of alienation in the heart
• Physical weakness
• Being unable to do acts of worship
• Being deprived of blessings
• Turning away from Allāh
• Anxiety
• Getting comfortable with sins
• The sinner becomes insignificant in the sight of Allāh
• The sinner becomes insignificant in the sight of people
• The curse of the animals will be upon him
• The sinner will bear marks of humiliation
• His heart will be sealed and he will come under the curse (of Allāh)
• The sinner’s Du’ā is not answered
• Loss of Gheerah (protective jealousy)
• Loss of modesty (Ḥayā)
• The blessings of Allāh disappear
• Punishment will befall him
• Fear in the heart of the sinner
• Falling into the traps of Shayṭān
• A bad end in worldly life (Dunyā)
• Torment in grave
• Punishment in the Hereafter

Act Before You Regret

‏قال الإمام أحمد بن حنبل : الدنيا دار عمل والآخرة دار جزاء
فمن لم يعمل هنا، ندم هناك !

Imām Aḥmad Raḥimahullāh: “The world is the place of action and the Ākhirah is the place of reward/punishment, so whoever doesn not act in here, will regret there.”

Corruption

‏قال الإمام ابن القيّم رحمه الله :
فَــلَا شَيْء أفســد للأعمــال
مـن الْعجب ورؤيــة النَّفــس٠

Sufyān b. ‘Uyaynah Raḥimahullāh: “Intelligent is not the one who is aware of good and bad rather intelligent is the one who when sees good, follows it and when sees evil, avoids it.”

Repentance Of Liars

قَــالَ الشَّــيخُ العلّامــة صَالِــح بنُ فَوزان الــفَوزَان - حَــفظهُ الله - :
وأما الذي يقول : أستغفرُ الله، بلسانه، وهو مقيمٌ على المعاصي بأفعاله، فهو كذابٌ لا ينفعُهُ الاستغفارُ، قال الفضيل بن عياض - رحمه الله - : استغفارٌ بِلاَ إقلاعٍ توبةُ الكذابينَ

Sh. Ṣāliḥ al-Fawzān: “As for him saying ‘Astaghfirullāh’ with his tongue but persisting upon sins/disobedience with his actions, then he is a liar (and) his Istighfār will not benefit him, as Fuḍayl b. ‘Iyāḍ said: 'Seeking Allāh’s Forgiveness while not abandoning (sins) is the repentance of liars’.”

Imām Bukhāri had lost his sight in his days as a youth, and he visited many skilled doctors, but no treatment was of any success.

His mother was a pious woman and used to pray to Allāh vigorously for the return of her son's eyesight.

One night in her dream, she saw the Prophet Ibrāhim, who told her that Allāh had accepted her prayers because of her tears in front of Him and her sons sight would return.

In the morning, as Imām Bukhāri got up from his bed, glimmers of light reached out into his eyes, and his eyesight was fully restored.

During the Caliphate of 'Umar, there was a man who forced himself upon a woman and raped her.

When 'Umar heard about this, he had the man whipped and then order the man to be exiled from the land,

He did not say anything to the woman, because there was no blame on her.

When Abū Ṭālib was in his death bed, the Prophet went to him while Abū Jahl was sitting beside him.

The Prophet said: "O my uncle! Say: "None has the right to be worshipped except Allāh, an expression I will defend your case with, before Allāh."

Abū Jahl and 'Abdullah b. Umaiya said: "O' Abū Ṭālib! Will you leave the religion of 'Abd al-Muṭṭalib?"

So they kept on saying this to him so that the last statement he said to them was: "I am on the religion of 'Abd al-Muṭṭalib."

Then the Prophet said: " I will keep on asking Allāh's forgivenesses for you unless I am forbidden to do so."

Then the following Verse was revealed: "It is not fitting for the Prophet and the believers to ask Allāh's forgiveness for the pagans, even if they were their are near relatives, after it has become clear to them that they are the dwellers of the Fire."

The other Verse was also revealed: "Verily, you guide not whom you like, but Allāh guides whom He wills."

A man came to the Prophet and said: "I had sexual intercourse with my wife in Ramaḍān (while fasting)."

The Prophet asked: "Can you afford to free a slave?"

He replied in the negative.

The Prophet asked him: "Can you fast for two successive months?"

He replied in the negative.

He asked him: "Can you afford to feed such poor persons?"
He once again replied in the negative.

Then a basket full of dates was brought to the Prophet and he said: "Feed (poor people) with his by way of atonement."

He said: "(Should I feed it) to poorer people than we? There is no house than ours between its (Medina's) mountains!"

The Prophet answered: "Then feed your family with it."

There are three types of dreams.

A true dream (sign from Allāh).
Dreams about something that has happened to the man himself.
Dreams where the Shaytān scares someone.

Do Not Make Yourself Incapable

Shaykh Ibn ‘Uthaymīn [رحمه الله] said:

❝The Messenger's [ﷺ] saying, 'Do not make yourself incapable' means: Do not become lazy and go back on an action once you have started it; rather, persist. 

This is because if you left it and then afterwards started another action, and then afterwards you left [that] and then started, and then left, none of your actions would [ever] get completed.❞

The Prophet's book.

Abū Zaid al-Marvāzī once had a dream where he was sleeping between the black stone and the place of Ibrāhim and he saw the Prophet.

The Prophet said to him: "How long will you keep teaching Imām Shāfī'ī's book? When will you teach my book?"

Abū Zaid asked what the Prophet's book was. 

The Prophet replied: "Muhammad b. Ismā'īl's al-Jamī' as- Ṣaḥīḥ (Ṣaḥīḥ Bukhāri)."

The Prophet's footsteps.

One of Imām Bukhāri teachers, Muhammad b. Yūsuf al-Firyābī said:  "I saw al-Bukhāri in my dreams walking behind the Prophet and whenever the Prophet lifted his foot and took a step, I saw al-Bukhāri put his foot on that place."

The biggest turning point in the history of hadīth.

Imām Bukhāri said: "There was once a time during one of our sessions when my teacher Isḥāq Inn Rahwayh remarked it would be appreciated if someone could collect ahadīth which held wrong and reliable testimonials and write them in the form of a book! These words affected my heart and I began to compile a book which would only contain authentic Hadith."

Great Reward Of Dhikr After Wuḍū
عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ ، قَالَ : مَنْ قَالَ إذَا فَرَغَ مِنْ وُضُوئِهِ : سُبْحَانَك اللَّهُمَّ وَبِحَمْدِكَ ، أَشْهَدُ أَنْ لاَ إلَهَ إِلاَّ أَنْتَ ، أَسْتَغْفِرُك وَأَتُوبُ إلَيْك ، خُتِمَتْ بِخَاتَمٍ ، ثُمَّ رُفِعَتْ تَحْتَ الْعَرْشِ ، فَلَمْ تُكْسَرْ إلَى يَوْمِ الْقِيَامَةِ.
From Abū Sa'eed al-Khuḍree Raḍi-Allāhu ‘Anhu who said: “Whoever says this when he finishes his Wuḍū;
'Subḥaanak Allaahumma Wa Biḥamdika Ash-Hadu al-Laa Ilaaha Illaa Anta Astaghfiruka Wa Atoobu Ilayk’
(Glory be to you O Allāh and praise belongs to you, I bear witness that there is none worthy of worship except You, I seek your forgiveness and I repent to you.)
(His speech) is then sealed, after that it is raised up to and placed under the Throne (of Allāh) then NOTHING will break it (i.e the seal) until the Day of Resurrection.”

⚠ Note: The scholars differ as to if this narration is Mawqoof (i.e whether this is the statement of a Companion) or its Marfū’ (attributed to Prophet ﷺ), however this is report of unseen which cannot be narrated by a Companion except if he heard from the Prophet ﷺ, and Allāh knows best, as for its Sanad there is NO DOUBT it’s an authentic narration like Ibn Ḥajar Raḥimahullāh mentioned in al-Futooḥāt ar-Rabbāniyyah. ⚠

Imām Nawawī said: "Verbal infractions that require disciplinary punishment if a person says it to another:
An evildoer.
A disbeliever.
An immoral person.
A doomed person.
A dog.
A donkey.
A billy goat.
A Rāfidi (Shī'ah).
Evil.
A liar.
A traitor.
A pimp.
A cuckold.
