Here are 5 tips to help you boost your immune system during the Coronavirus outbreak.
1. Increase your Hours of Rest
In an environment where your body is exposed to a virus, changing lifestyle circumstances and challenges that impact your overall wellbeing & mental state - it’s always important to increase your hours of rest.
Aim to get a solid 8 - 10 hours of rest where possible. This is one of the keys to boosting your immune system and lowering your overall stress levels over this period.
2. Eat Lean, Green & Light
Increase your overall intake of fresh, healthy, high energy fruit & vegetables. It’s the easiest way to combat any attack from a virus and it will help you to think more clearly and be more energised during a period of uncertainty.
If you’re serious about boosting your immune system and thriving in tough times, start getting tough on what you expose your body to and what you are consuming.
3. Reduce your Workout Intensity
The #1 thing you can do to lower your bodies exposure to burnout at the moment is reduce the overall intensity of your workout sessions. As many gyms are now starting to close, it’s a good time to get outside, be in nature and change up your workout routine. Focus on walking, running and doing free weight exercises at home or at the park.
I’d also recommend that you lower the intensity of your workouts enough, so you can also spread your exercise program across 7 days - This will help with maintaining a daily routine while everything else around you is changing.
4. Set Realistic Time Frames
Reduce your stress levels by creating a realistic daily & weekly schedule. As many of you start working from home - You have to factor in the changing landscape of the of the world around you, along with your own personal & professional life.
Maintain as much structure in your day as possible, but be flexible in your approach. Each day is a new challenge and it’s important to manage your own expectations. By reducing your stress levels you reduce your exposure to burnout.
5. Rest & Recharge
Use this time to rest, recharge and re-tool. That is the best way to boost your immune system in a stressful global & economic environment.

I’ve always believed that meditation is an essential part of the human experience. ~ It’s something we must strive to do each day, to connect with our higher selves and in many ways it’s one of the core values of the Before5am Philosophy. ~ I have been meditating ever since I was in high school and it is through my ability to connect with myself and what is beyond me - that allows me to do what I do every day. ~ I’m not a big believer in the over complication of meditation. To me it’s a way of life and something we can all do. We are all given the ability to be still within and like any muscle, you have to use it and exercise it to become more effective. ~ You have to give yourself time each day to be one with yourself. Whether that means laying down, sitting still or going for a walk in nature. They are all forms of meditation and building a stronger relationship with your higher self. ~ Meditation is a tool that should recharge your soul and energise you, but most of all it is a gateway to a place within that allows you to make all things possible in this realm. ~ You might not be comfortable with sitting still or even listening to your own soul. Most people aren’t. But for a moment in time when you choose to meditate you have the power to let go, clear your mind and allow things to be. Just as they are. ~ For those few minutes each day, allow your mind to be still, while your heart and soul explores the unseen world. A place within that gives you the greatest sense of love, peace and freedom. ~ Close your eyes, focus on your breathing and let go for a moment in time. Learn to see with your soul rather than your eyes. Learn to be still and find god, clarity or your own power within, with each breath. ~ Giving yourself time to meditate before you start your day, is one of the most important morning rituals you can implement into your life. It will help you gain greater levels of clarity and peace within. ~ There is no right or wrong when it comes to meditating. It’s your time to connect with yourself and it all starts with you setting aside some time each day to just be still and get away from it all. ~
