Let me tell you a little bit about my Hero’s Journey to becoming a fantasy author.

We live in a world of competing narratives. All-too-often that means lies, deception, and propaganda.

Toxic politics is dividing us Americans. Young people feel confused. They feel detached from their communities. Their families may be experiencing upheaval.

It can feel demotivating for those of us who insist on living, as Vaclav Havel put in, “in truth.”

What if we all joined together in a quest to find the truth?

That is what “Hypernea: The Cursed Kingdom” is all about. The characters’ attempt to live in truth and revitalize their declining civilizations.

This story is an epic fantasy about an unlikely band of outcasts who join together to stop their world from being erased.

It was partly written in reaction to witnessing the isolation and alienation of young people during the Covid pandemic.
