Blumer's shelf, also known as a rectal shelf, is a medical finding during a rectal or vaginal examination that indicates a tumor has spread to the pouch of Douglas, also known as the rectouterine or rectovesical pouch. It is a sign of metastatic disease, commonly originating from cancers of the stomach, pancreas, colon, or lung. 
🔹 Curling’s Ulcer
🔸 Definition: Acute gastric ulcer after severe burns.
🔸 Cause: Hypovolemia and mucosal ischemia due to major burns.
🔹 Cushing’s Ulcer
🔸 Definition: Acute gastric/duodenal/esophageal ulcer after brain injury.
🔸 Cause: Increased vagal stimulation → ↑ gastric acid secretion.
🔹 Stress Ulcer
🔸 Definition: Acute mucosal erosion in critically ill patients.
🔸 Cause: Physiologic stress → mucosal ischemia + acid injury.
🔹 Marjolin’s Ulcer
🔸 Definition: Malignant transformation (usually SCC) in chronic wounds or scars.
🔸 Cause: Chronic inflammation or irritation (e.g., burn scars, chronic ulcers).
