📼 𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗦𝗵𝗼𝘂𝗹𝗱 𝗢𝗻𝗲 𝗕𝗲𝗴𝗶𝗻 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗶𝗻 𝗦𝗲𝗲𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗞𝗻𝗼𝘄𝗹𝗲𝗱𝗴𝗲?

Shaykh Muqbil bin Hādī al-Wādi'ī رحمه الله said:

▪️The 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗴 𝗽𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗼𝗻 who is learning, who is small (in age), has to begin with the Qur’ān, then learn some of the arabic language, then the sunnah of the Prophet ﷺ.

▪️ As for the 𝗼𝗹𝗱𝗲𝗿 𝗽𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗼𝗻, it is obligatory upon him - we do not say it is necessary for him, rather 𝗶𝘁 𝗶𝘀 𝗼𝗯𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗮𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘆 𝘂𝗽𝗼𝗻 𝗵𝗶𝗺 - 𝘁𝗼 𝗯𝗲𝗴𝗶𝗻 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗔𝗹𝗹𝗮𝗵 𝗵𝗮𝘀 𝗺𝗮𝗱𝗲 𝗼𝗯𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗮𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘆 𝘂𝗽𝗼𝗻 𝗵𝗶𝗺, from the matters of ‘aqīdah (belief), ṣalāh (prayer); how the prophet ﷺ prayed and regarding all his affairs – that which is obligatory upon him, he begins with it.

So 𝗽𝗲𝗼𝗽𝗹𝗲 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗽𝗮𝘁𝗵 𝗼𝗳 𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗳𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗼 𝗱𝗶𝗳𝗳𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗴𝗼𝗿𝗶𝗲𝘀:

▪️ The young begins with memorising the Qur’ān – as was the case with our scholars of the past – and the arabic language, then he goes back to the sunnah of the Messenger of Allāh ﷺ

▪️The older person begins with what Allāh has made obligatory upon him and after that, if he begins with what Allāh has made obligatory upon him, Allāh will place barakah in his deeds and he will be a reason for the spreading of the sunnah, for indeed the sunnah, O brothers, does not spread with sayings, [rather] it spreads with acting upon them.

🪞𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗗𝗲𝘀𝗰𝗿𝗶𝗽𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗼𝗳 𝗮𝗹-𝗚𝗵𝘂𝗿𝗮𝗯āʾ (𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗦𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗲𝗿)

al-Imām Abu Bakr Muhammad ibn al-Husayn al-Ajurrī رحمه الله narrated in Kitāb-ul-Ghurabāʾ (chain of narration in the attached image):

⎙ Nāfi‘ bin Mālik said:

ʿUmar ibn al-Khaṭṭāb رضي الله عنه entered the masjid and found 𝗠𝘂ʿā𝗱𝗵 𝗯𝗶𝗻 𝗝𝗮𝗯𝗮𝗹 رضي الله عنه sitting near the house of the Prophet ﷺ, and he was crying.

So ʿUmar said to him:

What is making you cry, O Abū ʿAbd-ur-Raḥmān? Has a brother of yours died, or a man from your companions?

He said:

No. But a hadith my beloved ﷺ told me while I was in this masjid.

He said:

What is it, O Abū ʿAbd-ur-Raḥmān?

He said: He informed me

«𝗜𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗲𝗱 𝗔𝗹𝗹ā𝗵 azzwajal 𝗹𝗼𝘃𝗲𝘀:

• 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗵𝗶𝗱𝗱𝗲𝗻 𝗼𝗻𝗲𝘀
• 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗽𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗼𝗻𝗲𝘀
• 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗶𝗻𝗻𝗼𝗰𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗼𝗻𝗲𝘀
