Bill that would restrict PFAS in consumer products heads to governor
The Vermont House gave its final approval Tuesday to a bill that restricts toxic so-called "forever chemicals" in a suite of commercial goods. It now goes to Gov. Phil Scott, who has not indicated whether he will sign the bill or not.
#Vermont has become the first state in the US to ban multiple chemicals from menstrual products such as tampons and sanitary pads. The chemicals banned include per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (#PFAS), phthalates, formaldehyde, 1,4-dioxane and mercury. The law is set to come into force in January 2026.
