🎯 Men's Health Week (15th - 21st June)

🎯 There is a false myth that men should be tough and not show vulnerability or emotions.

🎯 Yet men and women are human beings with the same emotions.

🎯 Men can and do suffer from mental disorders, but are less likely to admit they have a problem or need any help.

🎯 Men are 2 - 3 times more likely to abuse drugs than women.

🎯 Men are twice more likely to die from suicide than women.

🎯 There should be no shame or stigma in admitting you have problems and need help.

🎯 Stop suffering and dying in silence.

🎯 Men, Take ACTION to protect your Mental Health through Covid-19 and beyond.

🎯 Happy Father's Day

🎯 To all the wonderful fathers who silently toil day and night for the welfare of their family.

🎯 We celebrate all Fathers who are still alive; as well as those who have passed on.

🎯 The understated role of fathers is felt more in their absence, than when they are still around.

🎯 Fathers are heroes.

🎯 International Widows' Day

🎯 It can be devastating for anyone to lose a spouse. But it is especially more so for women across the world.

🎯 It comes with loneliness, lack of support, deprivation, poverty, discrimination and all sorts of abusive practices.

🎯 All of these, cumulatively takes a heavy toll on their emotional wellbeing.

🎯 We should be more sensitive, caring and supportive to all widows. Abusive and discriminatory practices should come to an end.

🎯 In today's changing world, skills are the currency for progress and success.

🎯 Youth are the major drivers of change and transformation with creative ideas and outside-the-box thinking - especially in the midst of Covid-19 and beyond.

🎯 But resilience is integral to all of the foregoing. The ability to withstand and bounce back from setbacks is the single most important trait for success.

🎯 July is set aside as Psychosocial Disability Awareness Month.

🎯 Persons with mental disorders frequently experience shame, stigma and discrimination which worsens their ability to participate meaningfully in society.

🎯. Psychosocial disability refers to disabilities that may arise from mental health challenges.

🎯 They can experience severe social disadvantages & their being treated unfairly, & deprived of their basic human dignity and fundamental human rights.

🎯 This month`s IMCE therefore, is in commemoration of the Psychosocial Disability Awareness Month.

🎯 It focuses on the Stigma of Mental Illness and Psychosocial Disabilities.
