Why is everything assumed to be sexual?

Certain hair styles, shorter clothing, pole dancing, socks.

I hear people making jokes about a guy with earrings assuming his sexuality with something like “oh he’s a bottom.”

Yes, I do sometimes have sexual thoughts about these things but it’s probably because the l idea has been conditioned into me. Seeing pole dancing at first was like “woah that’s cool.” If no one never made that connection to me I wouldn’t think anything of it.

It’s really annoying. People have associated taking too big of a bite with a banana to be sexual.

What's wrong with people?

"I hope one time you'll stop speaking about that sht of not wanting to have childreen. One day you'll meet someone you'll like so much that you'd want to have sex with him. Well, one day, our birth rate will sink and every woman has to have at least four childreen again." - my stepfather to me

"Asexual? Is your sister hot? Give me her number and I'll turn her sexual again " - someone to my brother

"I don't believe you're asexual. I mean you haven't tried yourself out yet. You're just 17! Maybe you just haven't met the right one." - a friend of mine who works at a network for people of the LGBTQIA+-community

At this point I'm just fed up with it.
I should add: At the time of all of these statements I was underaged (just turned 18 "recently"). Makes them more f
cked up.

My mom told me she's proud of me!

So we were watching the news at dinner and they showed a segment about "sexual and gender dissents" (their wording and translated to english) that covered non-binary, asexuals and pans. My brother wanted to comment as it went along but my mom (who noticed that I wanted to listen) kept him silent until the end, when it did she said that she was proud of me and was grateful that I would correct her when she got things wrong

She has already said that last thing, but never that's she's proud of me because I'm ace, so I'm really happy right now!

I'd expect more from an institution designed to educate people, but alas...
