Prejudices within the LBTQIA community
I am just looking for some support and wanting to rant to q demographic who would understand. There is a post on gay_irl which talks about how people within the community invalidate each other or certain letters in the community (for context, this particular example was a gay person not validating trans rights or their existance). I contributed to the conversation by mentioning how this is a very similar shared experience for asexuals. I then proceeded to be invalidated about the asexual experience.
I got a bit defensive and disclosed how I am a victim of corrective rape. Oppression is not a forking competition! Everyone; lesbian, gay, bisexual, transsexual, queer, intersex, and asexual, should be supporting each other and validating our similar and different experiences. This is pride month ffs!
Casual reminder to be kind to everyone. We are all valid. We all live on the planet. We all should have the same respect, love (in whatever form you want, friends and family are a precious love too), and opportunities in life. Remember when you have not lived in someone's shoes that you truly do not know what they have lived through.
I love you all and see every single person who has been invalidated, especially from members of our own community.
Edit: I let this person get to me. I'm shaking and had a flashback. Please be kind to people and be cognizant about how your words and actions have consequences. I reported their response, but I'm very disheartened and don't feel safe. Seriously, fork anyone who knowingly inflicts oppression and prejudices on others. I am in graduate school in part, to help combat the within oppression and prejudice within our own community. It just hurts more and impacts more when those words and actions are coming from someone who should be an ally.

After struggling a lot with my asexuality and a not exactly perfect outing, I finally feel comfortable with my identity and got myself my first ace ring. I didn't expect that a piece of jewelry would make me so happy^^
