My fellow aces I need to share a story

Sooo I'm female ace but not long ago i've realized that I like girls romantically.

This week I had a language exam. As I was waiting for the speaking exam( I think that's what they're called) a girl came next to me. She had a black ring on her middle finger and yall know what that means.
I could only see her eyes because of the mask but they were so beautiful and She was so pretty and.... okay i'll stop...
We were the only ones waiting for the exam and we started talking and guess what my socially awkward self did, I complimented her ring.

Next day was the writing. I sit down and She came to my desk and we smiled at each other and started talking again about the exam (that was the only topic we could talk about)

I've realized I can't stop thinking about her so maybe I have a little crush on her?

Anyway I just wanted to share my little story

Have a wonderful day everyone😁💜

Stop putting gray-aces down to make yourself feel “more valid”.

The title is a little more blunt than my final thoughts, so read through the whole thing before saying that I’m trying to start a war in the a-spec community. I promise that’s not my intentions!!!

——————————————————

Theres this small but growing movement of people in the community of people changing the definition of ace (not experiencing sexual attraction) or the definition of sexual attraction so that they fit the label of “ace” completely as if that makes them “more valid”. That just completely eliminates the struggles and experiences of our fellow demi’s and gray-aces and is basically telling them that they are less valid, which just isn’t true.

You don’t need to fit the label of ace 100% to be a-spec and valid, and you are hurting others by trying to force yourself to fit the label. Not being “100% ace” (I hate that wording) doesn’t make you less worthy or less a part of this community. But creating new ace microlabels to make gray-ace identities fit into the “ace” label (I’m talking about not experiencing sexual attraction, not the umbrella label for the community as a whole) creates a culture where gray aces are seen as less valid or less “a-spec” and that being “fully ace” makes you more important in this community. It doesn’t.

I also understand that I am not a mind reader and can’t decide who is ace and who is gray-ace, but when people say that “I experience sexual attraction but not like the ALLOS do therefore I’m a FULL ACE and completely valid”, you can just see the insecurity in their own identity and it ends up bringing demi’s and other a-specs who can/do experience sexual attraction down with them.

What am I trying to achieve by bringing this up? Actually, I’m not sure. I think a bunch of the people who act like this are victims of a larger problem where people outside the a-spec community only accept people who are “fully ace” (if they accept any aces at all), so then people within our community try harder and harder to fit the box of “full ace”, which only ends up hurting our community, specifically the gray-ace community, more. I don’t think they know they’re hurting others with their language, but I think it’s important that people think deeper into how what they’re saying may affect other people/identities.

I would like to know if anyone has noticed this trend as well, especially gray-aces, and what you think should be done within this community to make people less afraid to be gray-ace. Cause gray-aces are just as valid and just as a part of the ace-community!!!

Came out to my friends, managed to keep my room clean for a month, started a new hobby, did my college assignments early, and I'm working on telling my parents.

Despite feeling horrible literally 2 days ago, as I reflect on these little things I can't help but feel proud about them. They are little things that felt like nothing at the moment but upon reflection I always had trouble with them. I for once don't feel entirely hopeless <{^.^}>
