Gay-passing asexual

Anyone else "gay-passing", rather than "straight-passing"?

I happen to have "the gay voice", as well as a slight build and an expressive sense of fashion, and everybody assumes that I'm gay. People will literally tell me that I'm gay, like they're informing me of it.

"RevolutionaryDong, you're gay..." Am I? Did I say that?

It's always baffled me, in that it's not simply ignorant people thinking that I act a bit fruity, but also perfectly progressive people that are apparently more than happy to assume my sexuality based on stereotype.

Is it a little aphobic, assuming that I must be allosexual when I've made no claims to it and never talk about dating anyone? Or is it a little homophobic, assuming that I must be gay because I'm kind of effeminate?

I'm not mad, of course: I've embraced it. I like to consider myself a non-practicing homosexual. I'm just in it for the holidays.

Please don’t feed them. They tend to get feisty when garlic bread is in the vicinity.

I don’t even know how to respond to this comment on another sub-reddit. Apparently identifying as asexual is a choice. Since it is breaking my marriage this is like a slap in the face 😭
