Worst experience with aphobia or just ignorance towards the ace/aro communities?

Ive come out to about 4 people directly and one of them was like “wow that’s kinda.. sad.. you’ve honestly never.. wow.”

I get that must people are totally ignorant about aroace spec identities but to be called sad by a girl with a Finn Wolfhard cutout in her room (She makes TikTok pretending he’s her boyfriend) and a twilight obsession is a low blow..

Aphobes in the wild

Some classmates kept asking personal questions about me, and eventually about my sexuality (probably to mock me) and to get them to go away I said I was asexual. They asked what it was so I told them it wasn’t feeling any attraction as I thought if told them what it really means they would mock me even more. The teacher luckily shooed them away and comforted me.

Only one of them ended up apologising to me, and after class my friend came up to me and told me they were mocking me for being asexual- I came here because this is one of the only safe spaces for me.

Edit: all your comments are amazing and have brightened up my day, if stabbing and arson wasn’t illegal I would 100% use all this advice :)

Does anyone else feel uncomfortable when complimented on physical features?

I’m closeted aro/ace and when people try to compliment me I feel (though it’s kinda harsh) kind of grossed out. I try to accept the compliment but I never really know how to respond lol, though that could just be my awkwardness ʅ（◞‿◟）ʃ I’m just a bit curious if any of you feel the same way
