Came Out To My Parents As Asexual.

A while ago I came out to my parents as ace, honestly I thought coming out as ace was dumb because it really isnt much I thought. I also havent told them that im bisexual (guys - nonbinary) and never really will. Basically what happened is they just told me im not ace and I havent found the right girl... I still really don't know what to think about what happened or what to do.

(sorry im new to reddit and don't know how to make posts and just wanted to say something about this ): )

Jarring tales of trying to find a therapist as an Ace

First appointment with a therapist, I mentioned being asexual. They didn’t know what it meant so after I explained, the first thing they ask:

(in a concerned tone): “how does your partner feel about that?”

😳

Like really?

Oh Dr please hold back your tears at my spouse’s supposed misfortune!

Is there a connection between being asexual and not drinking? Does anyone else here not drink, or is it just me?

I have to ask this as an honest question. I am not only asexual; I am a teetotaler, meaning I don't drink. I also don't smoke or do drugs whatsoever, either.

Whenever I go out with friends, all my friends are solely interested in drinking and all that. It's just not for me, however. I find myself the outsider of the group, which does feel a bit alienating for me.

Being the only ace in the crew, I do wonder if there is something to that. Seeing as alcohol is something I don't want to use, just like sex or smoking, I do wonder if there is something to not drinking and being ace.

So, I chose to posit this question.

Anyone else here an ace and a teetotaler? Or is it just me?
