Aphobes in the wild
Some classmates kept asking personal questions about me, and eventually about my sexuality (probably to mock me) and to get them to go away I said I was asexual. They asked what it was so I told them it wasn’t feeling any attraction as I thought if told them what it really means they would mock me even more. The teacher luckily shooed them away and comforted me.
Only one of them ended up apologising to me, and after class my friend came up to me and told me they were mocking me for being asexual- I came here because this is one of the only safe spaces for me.
Edit: all your comments are amazing and have brightened up my day, if stabbing and arson wasn’t illegal I would 100% use all this advice :)

Hi! My friend, u/Gardenhoze14, recently figured out they were ace, and drew an ace and aroace pride axolotls! Unfortunately, When they tried to post these images, reddit took them down for spam for some reason... So hopefully this works! The ace one is named Georgie and the aroace one is named Eric.

Does anyone else feel uncomfortable when complimented on physical features?
I’m closeted aro/ace and when people try to compliment me I feel (though it’s kinda harsh) kind of grossed out. I try to accept the compliment but I never really know how to respond lol, though that could just be my awkwardness ʅ(◞‿◟)ʃ I’m just a bit curious if any of you feel the same way

Who else doesn't know what to do with their life?
A lot of allos define their lives based on their relationships or use their relationships to justify their actions. I am at the age where im supposed to move out, but i don't know where to go or what to do.

Told my nearly-girlfriend I was ace today! Didn't go quite as planned.
So I've had a couple dates with this girl and we talk basically everyday over text, and after our date yesterday which went really well I decided that I was at the point where I was comfortable enough to tell her I am ace. I'm still sort of questioning my exact position on the spectrum because I'm not 100% sure but I know I'm somewhere on it hahahah
but anyways I wrote this little paragraph saying thank you for the date and coming out to her, and her initial response was sweet but she'd asked what asexual meant which I understand since it's not as well know as other sexualities. After I explained it to her she again didn't really give her own thoughts about it but still thanked me for telling her.
I then had to straight up ask "what do you think about the ace thing" and she then said I'm obviously going to accept you, and I don't want you to pretend you're something that you're not but I need to have a think about it and I'll get back to you. Obviously not the response I'd hoped for. I'm first of all glad she's going about it in a nice way but I've been so happy with her and I'd be so upset to see that end.
I just wanted to share this experience with some other ace people just to get a bit of support :)
