I just came out to my best friend, and I wish I hadn’t
Today, my best friend and I were having a talk. Somehow this ended up being a “let’s talk about why you’re not in a relationship right now” kind of conversation. I started talking about how I felt like I needed to take some time off to deconstruct all the notions I was conditioned to believe. The depiction of love in western movies, and how it’s always centered around sex.
One thing led to another, and I told her that i am asexual. I explained to her that I don’t really believe in letting labels limit u or put u in a box, but labels can serve a greater purpose when u aren’t just looking to fill holes in ur self-reflection process. Labels can help guide u and clarify stuff. She then proceeded to tell me that she disapproves and that she hates to see me sucked into this. She told me that I’m denying myself of a physiological need and that we are biological beings.
It really hurts, being shut down and unaccepted like this. The fact that she think I’m doing this just to get some kind of momentary relief. The fact that she was talking to me as if was up for debate. I really don’t know what to do or how to feel. I just ended up hanging up on her cause I got overwhelmed.

i have come to a realization i am just aromantic, not asexual. I will be leaving this community, and it was fun while it lasted. Salute to you, ladies, gentlemen, and gentle-thems.
