📢 Important Note Regarding IPMA Festival Open Call

Dear all,
I want to share a concern raised by one of the artists who participated in the 2024 edition of IPMA Festival, whose open call I posted here today.

According to the artist, although their work was shipped to the festival and around 30% of production costs were covered, they have not received their work back and have been repeatedly ignored by the organizers — both by email and Instagram — despite multiple attempts since last autumn.

They shared detailed documentation with me, and I believe it’s important that others are aware of this before considering participation.

While this may be the result of disorganization rather than bad intent, the effect on the artist is the same: no communication, no return of the work, and no documentation provided.

🛑 From now on, I’ll be more cautious about sharing open calls from festivals or institutions that have unresolved issues with artists.

💬 If you’ve had a bad experience with any institution, feel free to message me. I’ll start posting these experiences (with your consent), so we can help each other make informed decisions.

🌱 On the flip side, if you know open calls that are fair, well-organized, and respectful of artists’ time and labor — I’d love to hear about them too! This channel is a collective effort.

Thank you for being part of this community — until now I only shared open calls, but starting today I’ll also post artists’ experiences and concerns, so we can build a more transparent and supportive space together.
