🎨This artwork, which I made using cardboard and plastic waste (plastic bags and bottles), is simply to demonstrate a method of reducing waste and to tell an authentic narrative regarding the disproportionate impacts of climate change on rural women.

🔘 Desertification/ land degradation increases the work burden of women, requiring them to trek longer distances than they previously did to collect water. (Worldwide, women and girls spend an estimated 200 million hours daily collecting water according to UNICEF. In rural sub-Saharan Africa, just one trip takes an average of 33 minutes).

🔘Physically accessible clean water is a major issue, particularly for women in developing countries, and climate change exacerbates this problem.

🔘This is a reason why gender-responsive approach to climate change is a significant opportunity to address this issue.

🔘በኢትዮጵያ የነፍስ ወከፍ አማካይ ዓመታዊ የፕላስቲክ አጠቃቀም በ2007 ከ700 ግራም በ2022 ወደ 3.8 ኪሎ ግራም ከፍ ብሏል። ይህ የ540% ጭማሪ ነው።

🔘ወደፊት የአሳ ማጥመድ ጉዞዎች ከዓሳ የበለጠ ፕላስቲኮችን ይይዛሉ ተብሎ ይጠበቃል።

🔘እንደ አሳ ያሉ የባህር ውስጥ የዱር አራዊት ፕላስቲኮችን በመብላት ወይም በመጠመድ ይሞታሉ።

🔘የፕላስቲክ ብክለት የምግብ ደህንነትን እና ጥራትን፣ የሰውን ጤና፣ የባህር ዳርቻ ቱሪዝምን አደጋ ላይ መጣል ብቻ ሳይሆን ለአየር ንብረት ለውጥ አስተዋጽኦ ያደርጋል።

🔺አላስፈላጊ የፕላስቲክ አጠቃቀምን እምቢ ማለት፣ መቀነስ፣ እንደገና ጥቅም ላይ ማዋል እንዲሁም በግድ የለሽነት በየቦታው አለመጣል ይገባል።

🔺በከፍተኛ የኑሮ ደረጃ የሚኖሩ ማህበረሰቦች ብዛት ያለው የፕላስቲክ ምርት ቢጠቀሙም፤ ዝቅተኛ የኑሮ ደረጃ ያላቸው አብዛኛው የቆሻሻ መጣያ ቦታ በቤታቸው አቅራቢያ ስለሚገኝ በፕላስቲክ ብክለት ጉዳት ይደርስባቸዋል።
🔺የፕላስቲክ ቆሻሻዎች በመሬት ላይ መከማቸታቸው ለእነዚህ  የህብረተሰብ ክፍሎች ቀዳሚ የመጠጥ ውሃ አቅርቦት የሆኑትን ጉድጓዶች ይበክላል።

🔺ፕላስቲኮች ምድርን በመቶዎች ለሚቆጠሩ አመታት ከመዝጋታቸውም በላይ አፈሩ ለምነት እንዳይሰጥ ከማድረግ ባለፈ ለምርታቸው ጥቅም ላይ በሚውሉት ኬሚካል ተጨማሪዎች ምክንያት ለሰው ልጅ ጤና ጠንቅ የመሆን አቅም አላቸው።

🔺ዘንድሮ  ግንቦት 28  የአለም የአካባቢ ቀን መሪ ሃሳብ #BeatPlasticPollution ዘመቻ ስር የፕላስቲክ ብክለት መፍትሄዎች ላይ በማተኮር በአለም አቀፍ ደረጃ እየተከበረ ይገኛል።


🔺አላስፈላጊ የፕላስቲክ አጠቃቀምን እምቢ ማለት፣ መቀነስ፣ እንደገና ጥቅም ላይ ማዋል እንዲሁም በግድ የለሽነት በየቦታው አለመጣል ይገባል።

Once upon a time, a sheep found itself lost in the wilderness, with hungry wolves prowling around. It began to flee, knowing that its only escape was to move forward towards the gate where the good shepherd awaited, ready to save it. Turning back meant facing the enemy, so the sheep knew it should continue moving towards the only door ahead, where it would find safety, rest, and pasture.

In John Chapter 10:7-11, Jesus said unto His disciples that He is the door of the sheep. All that ever came before him are thieves and robbers. He said he is the door: by him if any man enters in, he shall be saved, and find pasture. And Jesus said He is the good shepherd: the good shepherd gives his life for the sheep.

In this Good Friday, let us all be reminded of the love of our savior Christ, the good shepherd who humbled himself to the point of death, even death on the cross for us who like a sheep have gone astray.
