I want to start with a simple idea and unpack it: Payments were never rebuilt - they were layered.
Visa can handle up to 65,000 TPS, Stripe processes hundreds of billions yearly, and stablecoin volume has already crossed $10T+ annually.
Everything works.
But nothing is truly connected.
That gap (not speed or cost) is what matters now.

Tempo is building an L1 focused on payments, but instead of replacing the system, they’re trying to connect it.
