πŸ“£ Robotic startups Kinetic will repair electric cars πŸš—

California-based Kinetic Automation has developed an innovative solution for diagnosing and re-diagnosis of systems in modern vehicles. Start hopes to reduce labor and repair costs for electric vehicles using robots and machine learning technologies.

A team of 40 people developed a system that uses computer vision and machine learning software to solve rapid diagnostic problems with digital devices.

Traditional garages solve physical problems, but the complex digital aspects of cars require a special approach. Kinetic helps auto repair shops and dealerships avoid these digital challenges with its robotic systems.

How it works: The customer's vehicle drives into the Kinetic service center, where it is scanned using machine vision sensors mounted on a robotic arm. Kinetic software then determines which systems need programming or calibration and makes the necessary corrections.

Kinetic has already opened its first four service centers in Las Vegas and Orange, San Bernardino and Riverside counties in the state.

πŸ“£Robot sorter with human touch: a new level of waste recyclingβ™»οΈπŸ”‹

A new robotic system that imitates the human sense of touch has achieved an accuracy of 98.85% in recognizing household waste. These robots are already working in 40 of the 600 recycling centers in the United States, sorting waste twice as quickly and accurately as humans.

A research team from Tsinghua University in Beijing created a multilayer sensor that is sensitive to materials and temperature changes and combined it with a cascade classification algorithm. This allows the robot to effectively distinguish objects from simple (empty boxes) to complex (orange peels, scraps of fabric).

The robotic arm recognizes and sorts various types of waste: cardboard boxes, scraps, plastic bags, bottles, sponges, napkins and expired medications. Garbage is separated into containers for recycling, food waste, hazardous waste and other household waste.

πŸ“£Robot invasion at "Crossroads"πŸŽ‚

At the beginning of 2024, Perekrestok tested robotic cats that served as a smart shelf. These mechanisms rolled around the store, carrying promotional items, and offered customers to purchase products at discounts. The response from visitors was positive, but the project was not pilot tested due to economic factors.

Now the Perekrestok retail chain has begun a new experiment to introduce robotic cleaners in order to optimize the cleaning process. Ten such devices are already operating in stores in Moscow, Sochi and St. Petersburg.

During the experiment, it is planned to determine the most effective method of cleaning retail space. The robot replaces a scrubber dryer and a cleaning service worker, while increasing the quality of cleaning and the duration of work without recharging.

A person with a scrubbing machine can clean 100 square meters in an hour, while a robot can handle a thousand. The machine is capable of performing both general cleaning and individual tasks, for example, washing the floor after a product has fallen. In addition, the robot can greet visitors and ask them to step aside.

The results of the experiment will be summed up in August 2024. It is expected that the use of robots will improve the quality of cleaning and redistribute the responsibilities of employees.
