The lag in Ukrainian grain exports compared to last year decreased to 0.6 mln tonnes

According to the State Customs Service, as of April 29, Ukraine exported 40.711 mln tonnes of grains and pulses since the beginning of 2023/24 MY, including 5.66 mln tonnes shipped in April, the press service of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy of Ukraine reported.

It is noted that as of April 28 last year, the total shipments amounted to 41.354 mln tonnes, including 3.378 mln tonnes in April.

In general, since the beginning of the current season, the following has been exported:
🔹 wheat - 15.55 mln tonnes (in 2022/23 MY - 14.278 mln tonnes)
🔸 barley - 2.181 mln tonnes (2.461 mln tonnes)
🔹 rye - 1.2 thsd tonnes (17.9 thsd tonnes);
🔸 corn - 22.502 mln tonnes (24.29 mln tonnes).

The total export of Ukrainian flour since the beginning of the season as of April 29 is estimated at 86 thsd tonnes (127 thsd tonnes in 2022/23 MY), including 81.3 thsd tonnes of wheat flour (122 thsd tonnes).

Ukrzaliznytsia has restricted the transportation of oil and fat products through the Polish station Izov

Ukrzaliznytsia JSC has imposed temporary restrictions on the transportation of certain types of oil and fat and other food products through the Polish Izov station.

The first of them applies to the transportation of fats and oils of animal and vegetable origin, prepared edible fats, as well as waxes of animal or vegetable origin. Transportation of these products through Izov station is prohibited in wagons of all types to all recipients.

The second convention prohibits the transportation of food industry residues and waste and finished animal feed to three Polish stations through the Izov crossing.
Both conventions will be in effect from April 29 to May 6 this year.

Ukraine exported over 6 mln tonnes of grain in April

According to the State Customs Service, as of May 1, Ukraine exported 41.365 mln tonnes of grains and pulses since the beginning of 2023/24 MY, of which 6.314 mln tonnes were shipped in April, the press service of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy of Ukraine reported.

It is noted that as of the same date last year, the total shipments amounted to 41.595 mln tonnes, including 3.619 mln tonnes in April.

In terms of crops, since the beginning of the current season, the following were exported
🌾 wheat - 15.778 mln tonnes (1.936 mln tonnes in April)
🌾 barley - 2.202 mln tonnes (231 thsd tonnes);
🌾 rye - 1.2 thsd tonnes (0.2 thsd tonnes);
🌽 corn - 22.906 mln tonnes (4.136 mln tonnes).

Feed barley becomes more expensive in Ukraine - APK-Inform

According to APK-Inform Agency, in April the prices for feed barley gradually increased in Ukraine.

The situation was mainly driven by the reduced supply of the grain on the market, rather high demand from traders and processing companies, and the corresponding dynamics on the adjacent markets.

Thus, during the month, the demand prices for feed barley increased by 200-500 UAH/t and as of May 1 were mainly recorded in the range of 5000-6400 UAH/t CPT. The maximum prices were typical for the southern region.

Ukraine increases exports of agricultural products by road

As of April 29, 375 thsd tonnes of agricultural products were exported from Ukraine by road, which is 7% more than in the same period in March (350 thsd tonnes) and 3% more than in February (364 thsd tonnes), according to experts of Spike Brokers.

The largest volumes of agricultural exports in April were recorded at the Romanian border (113 thsd tonnes), the smallest - at the Slovak border (33 thsd tonnes), the report says.

It is also noted that the complete de-blockade of the border road checkpoints on the border with Poland contributed to an almost fourfold increase in daily exports at this border - from 1 thsd tonnes to 4 thsd tonnes.

Transportation volumes at the Romanian, Slovak and Hungarian borders did not change significantly last week.

The volume of Ukrainian grain exports in 2023/24 MY is only 0.3 mln tonnes lower than last year

According to the State Customs Service, as of May 3, Ukraine exported 41.607 mln tonnes of grains and pulses since the beginning of 2023/24 MY, including 242 thsd tonnes shipped in May, the press service of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy of Ukraine reported.

It is noted that as of the same date last year, the total shipments amounted to 41.906 mln tonnes, including 311 thsd tonnes in May.

In general, since the beginning of the current season, the following has been exported:
🔸 wheat - 15.848 mln tonnes (in 2022/23 MY - 14.483 mln tonnes)
🔹 barley - 2.205 mln tonnes (2.469 mln tonnes in the previous season)
🔸 rye - 1.2 thsd tonnes (17.9 thsd tonnes);
🔹 corn - 23.074 mln tonnes (24.628 mln tonnes).

Spring sowing in Ukraine completed on 60% of the planned area

According to the Ministry of Agrarian Policy, as of May 2, Ukraine planted 3.407 mln ha of spring grains and pulses, or 60.8% of the planned area (5.601 mln ha).

In general, the sowing dynamics is as follows:
🔸 wheat - 240.7 thsd ha, or 97.8% of the plan (246.1 thsd ha);
🔹 barley - 775.7 thsd ha, or 94.8% of the plan (818 thsd ha);
🔸 peas - 16.1 thsd ha, or 100.8% of the plan (159.9 thsd ha);
🔹 Oats - 159.9 thsd ha, or 98.3% of the plan (162.7 thsd ha);
🔸 corn - 1.961 mln ha, or 50% of the plan (3.912 mln ha);
🔹 Buckwheat - 5 thsd ha, or 4% of the plan (124.8 thsd ha);
🔸 millet - 16.7 thsd ha, or 20% of the plan (85.3 thsd ha).

As for oilseeds, as of the reporting date, Ukraine planted 2.968 mln ha of sunflower, or 56% of the planned area (5.288 mln ha), and 566.7 thsd ha of soybeans, or 28% of the planned 1.99 mln ha.
